Stars, will there be Double VPP days to make up for the three days we're going to lose to the Darkness?
Nice, that's nice.

They should def run some value added end of world tourneys imo.

Very professional.

Move this to Internet Poker and pm Stefan or another rep, to post an official reply.

I posted a thread yesterday in Internet poker and it was unceremoniously removed and tacked on to Zoo Chat. If someone knows the mods for that board maybe they'd like to clear a new thread with them. I really wanted some feedback from someone from Stars.

There should be an eschatology sub-forum for sure.

For those into this sort of thing, here's a 4-minute video about why the world won't end next week, put together by NASA.

I got 2 of these emails.

If this little freak got our email address, what other personal info did he get?!?! Name, Address, DOB, Bank Details?!?!

Hope Stars let us know he's been fired and reported to Police and prosecuted (if it's a crime).

The Age of Pisces ends on the 21st December and the Age of Aquarius begins on the 25th December. There will be three days of darkness in between these dates.

Got it as well and it referenced a .com website.

You should know GMail email addresses ignore dots and everything after a plus symbol. Also, googlemail = gmail.

All the following address are same:

[1] john.doe@gmail.com

[2] jo.hn.do.e@gmail.com

[3] john.doe@googlemail.com

[4] jo.hn.do.e@googlemail.com

[5] john.doe+spammysite@gmail.com

[6] jo.hn.doe+spammysite@googlemail.com

This is great because you can use this to help identify spam. For eg; Use [7] john.doe+xvideos@gmail.com to register on xvideos. Now if you receive spam addressed to this address, you instantly know it was xvideos.

So you have infinite email addresses from just one gmail address. You can use this to create multiple accounts on same site using different aliases.

From other accounts it sounds like someone that works at Stars managed to get the email addresses of their customers and use PokerStars' infrastructure to send email to those customers. That is a breach of security.

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue to us.

We are aware that yesterday, one of our employees violated internal policies
by accessing our marketing database and sending an unauthorised
communication to a small number of player email addresses, including yours.

We identified the method that he used to circumvent our policy, and
immediately implemented measures to ensure that no individual in the company
can repeat this.

We take safeguarding personal data very seriously and have industry-leading
measures in place (both technically and organisationally) to protect against
any misuse of such players’ data. Restrictions and limited individual
permissions are in place to minimise the potential for sensitive personal
data to be accessed and/or compromised and we have no reason to believe that
any sensitive personal data has been compromised in this case.

We have launched an internal investigation into the incident and have
temporarily removed the specific employee’s access to any of our internal
systems. Once our investigation is complete we will take the necessary
internal steps to ensure the ongoing integrity of our systems and our employees.

We urge our customers who received this "spam" to delete it as they would
any other email of such a nature, and we will work very hard to ensure that
no similar violation of our policies occurs.

Best Regards,

***

There's no way that someone can do that without knowing they shouldn't be.

I assume it's a breach of PS' privacy policy and I imagine that has legal implications that mean whoever did this needs to be fired. You can't missclick send a mass email with PS' tools.
