This viewpoint always somewhat perplexes me. I have to imagine that there is an element of hatred/jealousy that incites this type of response.

I am doing the 2+2 community a favor by letting them know what has happened. I am trying to prevent this from happening to other people and also trying to take appropriate recourse to solve the issue. I have already admitted that I made a mistake in sending first here, but I did not know as to Brad Booths reputation. Why are you attacking me when i got scammed and attempting to help myself and others in this situation?

This is because you're not a psychopath. When you see a redic response in nvg, just put the person on ignore.

+1 I told you earlier WCG, ignore the cretins. They have this image in their head that they know the world better than anyone and you're a fool for any decision you make. Or they're trolling. Either way, just ignore them.

What perplexes normal people is what the *** went through you're mind to lend someone money who you dont even know.

I dont see Harold from neigbours and say

"Oh Hi Harold you are a decent chap have my car house kids and girlfriend,See you next week with the cheque"

I hope you get repaid and use the money to buy some common sense

Yeah he has no reason to attack you like this, but I do agree its silly to trust someone you hardly know with so much money. Seems all these threads have one thing in common, a leap of faith for a large sum of money to a stranger. Yeah its the same thing in the HSNL xfer thread at times, but you wouldn't swap money and send first to anyone without an absolutely perfect reputation with multiple references.

I dont see why you didn't just meet him somewhere with an internet connection and make him show you the monies before you transfer.

I am doing him a favour not attacking him.

I guess I could be like 90% of the people in the thread saying

"There,There,Hope You Get Repaid"

I honestly hope he gets repaid and doesnt do something so stupid again...
But you need to be Cruel to be kind,Probably not how it is appearing but I do hope he gets it back!

dude this sucks, what a scumbag.

the question is, how much does 28k mean to your financial situation?

the more significant % of your net worth it is, the more I sympathize...

Because WCG's very close friend essentially vouched for Brad. It was a mis-judgement on his part, but it happens.

He wasn't trusting someone he doesn't know. He was essentially trusting his good friend who said "Hey Brad Booth is looking for Merge for cash. I played 25/50/100 with him the other day and he had $XX,XXX on him...So he should be good for it."

Regardless, WCG has already admitted that he probably shouldn't have made the transfer. And the thread is merely here to let other people know to not make the same mistake.

Brad owes money to people who have staked him and who he's borrowed from. To whoever posted that "some old rich guy" stakes him, that is incorrect. Guy Laliberte USED to stake Brad Booth, but no longer.

Imo theres a huge difference in a friend vouching for someone rather than several references from non friends who said a swap went smoothly.

Also wtf, it was public knowledge that BB owed lots of money to others?

I know WCG is only trying to inform the community about the situation, but I'm also trying to inform people how to do a proper transfer bc its apparently not obvious even to the most knowledgeable of people.

Ya, it's too bad OP never came across brad's hellmuth blackmail post/sad webcam video a few months back. Anyone who saw how he behaved there knew it would only be a matter of months til his 2012 blackmail $$ would evaporate, given he was using it to play a game that has passed him by. As a general rule, a card room/casino is home to the scummiest people on earth.

They have a withdrawal limit of 10k per withdrawal that goes through every couple of weeks. That limit was 4k for a long time. Ive been trying to get all of my money off of merge for basically forever, and most of the transfers are at 90c/$1 which I didn't want to take part in, being that I am not in a situation where I need cash immediately.

I wasn't with Brad when he had the money, my friend was. I assumed he was good for it because he was well known and i was not. So an opportunity to try and remove some lock poker money seemed like a good situation for me. I made a mistake, and I have been forthright about this throughout the thread. However people that dont understand why I would even trade at all, have not had situations where they had to move large quantities of money, it is very difficult and the sites oftentimes make it hard for you to get your money quickly.

You should have said this in the OP. You almost definitely made a terrible value decision here, but at least you are demonstrating you thought you had something real to gain by doing this. Makes you look a lot less crazy since you didn't totally reverse freeroll yourself.

Anyway, again, sorry this happened to you and thank you for how you are handling this situation now.

+1. OP seems like a good guy that tried to sell online money for cash to someone who appeared (to him) as reputable and got screwed. Stop bashing the victim. Booth has come on this forum a few times and most of you kiss his butt even though he says he owes close to a million dollars in gambling debts. Now you have a real...name....face...person to put to one of his debts and it doesn't spell sympathy anymore for Brad Booth.

WCG i would say u should just forget about the amount u gave brad and just see it as a donation that didn`t meet its cause.

I know the feeling about not getting back money hardly earned but from evey situation in life we MUST keep the good things than always exist even in the worst of situations.

FWIW i would be more mad to my friend than i would be towards brad.

People attacking doug are clueless. WCGRider is one of the good guys in this community and one of the nicest and most honest poker players I've met. Attacking OP is ******ed.

I'm sure Doug is well aware of what he did wrong. He doesn't need you telling him.

Appreciate the heads up doug.

I have a question for the original poster. Why did you want to suck up to him? What's in it for you? All these rip off props confuse me because the sucker in the deal has no real movitve for putting a lot of money at risk?

I love TwoPlusTwo. Any reader here should be alerted that transfers suck. Get the cash in hand before the transfer if you must, must, feel compelled to do a transfer in which you cannot win and can lose.

I don't feel sorry for suckers. This is the gambling business. I only hope it is enough of a warning that it will save this poster and others money.

How many of the people looking for stake money are offering a good deal?? I would never loan money around poker.

The fictional famlily I write about, the O'Malleys, five generations of con men, gamblers, musicians, and snake oil salesman are patterened after my mother's family. I would not have done a transfer or loaned my mother, and she would not loan me. Why do things with money that cannot help you and might make you a sucker???

Have you tried reporting this to the police? Surely they're not entirely powerless in these cases?

Best of luck getting the $ back.. Brad Booth is now officially a scumbag and I bet he'll find out his name being tainted isn't worth $30k.
