It seems as if though all the top online players have moved on to PLO. Is playing PLO more +EV then Holdem. Nosebleed NL have pratically dried up on Full Tilt while the PLO games are heavy in traffic.

Is PLO the future of poker?

I've heard it said that more luck is involved in PLO than hold em since the big implied odds in PLO encourage more players to see the flop. I read a PLO book once which said that a top player in both PLO and hold em will win a higher percentage of the time in hold em than PLO since the latter is more of a "drawing game." The author added, however, that the top player would win more money on the fewer occasions that he won in PLO due to the bigger pots. Not sure if that's true, but that's what the book said.

PLO is so high-variance and edgeless that the rake makes it the EV-equivalent of playing a pit game. Unless you're interested in pure gamble (I recommend potting and repotting and getting every omaha hand allin preflop, as at least dead blind money will offset some house advantage), I'd stay away from PLO.

I've heard a few players say NLHE is an art form, whereas PLO is more of a science. In that in PLO there's usually one 'correct' move, but in NLHE you can usually make arguements for calling, folding or raising in any one given spot.

whales, even the ones who have played and studied a lot, don't want to play the top guys in a game where they will get raped unless they run hot.
at least in omaha they have a chance of winning on any given night

To who ever said Razz was the moped, I think a more appropriate automotive analogy for the game is the PT Cruiser or the Aztek...

They're both uuuugly...

a good player can obtain a higher winrate in plo than in holdem

personally the reason i play it and one reason i think the top players play it is because the strategy isn't as discussed, there is still a lot the masses don't know even about somewhat basic plo concepts. it is fun and exciting to think about and 'discover' concepts for yourself that every player out there can't watch in a training video.

Preflop you can never make a (big) mistake, postflop it's also hard to have a significant edge against semi-competent players.

You have an M of less than 1 in the bubble of a massive satellite with 4 other opponents having to go all-in blind before the next blind reaches you. Snap-fold AA there.
