By the way, I never get offended at any "all Asians look alike" notions. Obviously, it's not all but many of us do. I had a few embarrassing moments growing up when I thought another Asian woman was my mom. (Quick glance, not really paying attention, etc.) I've mentioned this before but my brother did a comedy sketch with the other doctors from his medical residency. In the bit, they all dressed alike, combed their hair in the same way, then sat in the chairs with the same pose. If one person scratched his head, they all did. Stuff like that. The nurse would come in, ask for one of the doctors, then they'd flip for who handles it because they knew she wouldn't know who is who. My dad and I both took a few Mississippis to scan the stage and figure out which one was my brother.

If you've seen the movie United 93, you might remember an Asian air traffic controller in the Herndon center. From the side and back, that guy looks exactly like me. (Facially, not as much.) I've seen that film a few times; each time, I have a moment where I think I'm seeing myself.

Then again, you never know. Do a quick Google search for the names Anais Bordier and Samantha Futerman, and you'll see an example of someone who noticed another Asian who looked EXACTLY like her... and for good reason.

I played a (losing) session with this guy at the table. 2/5 at the V. In the 5-6 hrs I was there, I thought he was just a hyper-aggro any two cards to the flop type of guy with about 5.5k in front. I got into a few big 3 way pots with him. The main one I remember was where he won an $800 ish pot flopping a full house on a 9553J board with a preflop raise of $40 cracking my QJ flush and another player's QQ. He had a huge range and I too noticed the small bet the entire way into a huge river bet strategy. There was only one huge pot I remember him losing on showdown. He took a ton of $80-120 pots not going to showdown.

I can respect it.

There must have been a genetic bottleneck to make Koreans tend to look alike. It's the same thing with cheetahs. Am I the only one who thinks this isn't a bad thing? Korean women tend to be petite, beautiful, and feminine. When we start cloning humans en masse to make a more perfect species, I think a Korean beauty pageant winner should be one of the first choices.

It could also be the use of makeup and retouching on their photos. It could be the underlying racism in Korean society which puts undue value on women that look stereotypically "Korean" and affects how judges select women for the pageant. What I think happened is sometime not too long ago a tribe of roving marauders from the chinese mainland landed on the korean peninsula and was spectacularly successful in ethnically cleansing the native population and installed a system of aristocrats who had a disproportionately large share of the offspring of subsequent generations and also managed successfully to ward off invaders from other lands.
