I have only seen him play 2-5 at Venetian, but he was always nice in conversation...I am sure it is more of a joke than anything (the way he jokes about being the best), but I did not read this thread for all of the answers yet (rolls eyes)

So, yes, giving what turns out to be ~28-1 implied, frequently "works," but do you understand how rarely it has to fail to be -EV?

Do you understand that you can go on a long streak of it "working" and feel like you're a genius ... until it goes on a short streak of not "working" and you recognize that you've been a fool?

And maybe I shouldn't say you, prahsk87, maybe you're not advocating this strategy, merely illustrating it. But you did say it "worked."

hmm, I wonder if this is what I've been seeing at my live games lately the last year or two. I always felt it was an attempt to get information. If all you do is call the flop you are basically turning your hand face up. You either have a draw or weak pair or are floating or just plain stubborn. This makes it easy for your opponent to bluff turn since you havent showed much interest.

My counter to this strat is to just bluff raise the flop with air & draws half the time. If my air gets called I give up. If I improve I value bet. If I have an OESFD then I just ship turn up to 2x pot, looks like I'm trying to protect a made hand.

The other 50% of the time I just call with draws and thats it. No floating, no hero calls with weak pairs. Also helps sell the fact that I am capable of folding so they dont start exploiting me with 1/5 pot value bets.

I played with him a couple times eight months ago when i was in vegas for the winter. Heads up he played as described in the article. First hand i ever played vs him i actually flopped a set against him and let him value own himself. I open blk 99s utg+2 to 20. He 3bets 65 in the CO, hu to the flop, qs9h5c rainbow, he bet 45 into 130, i call, turn is a 2h. He bets 175 into 220, i took awhile and called, river 9d, He takes forever and finally does the am i hollywooding/stares at you while he gulps/bet/bluff (450). I snap, he later said he had AJhh He was very friendly towards me didnt seem sour at all. Later i found out he only talks to fish and does not converse with the regs or solid players. But surprise m!\÷€$€#!* I wasnt a young tilty aggro asian lag instead im a young azn lawyer that dont play for a living and still an ultra nit. Obviously has asperger or some type of developmental disability as he is very awkward. I can confirm the stories of him telling the table he use to be a major whore mongering, had over 200, but now has a girlfriend and went super Christian. He also talked about quitting poker and being a pastor. I remember him because a few days later he snapped 80k at the venetian deepstack and i thought to myself,, how much would he spend on a hooker if he did in fact got a celebatory one....Hes definately a very solid winning player. Im not surprised at all on what he said on the article. He was very smug towards one of the stronger players when he won a pot off him but pretentious to a fault against the fish. Hes eccentric and semi douchey but like all poker players they have their moments/angles. GOD bless his soul.

(sorry to whoever created this image, credit goes to you, had to save it as was so genius)

He really is not as good as he thinks he is, just standard hypomanic grandioseness that comes with fortuna landing you success. He runs bad in a few key pots at the start, and he is stuck behind a desk somewhere or a waiter or something.

The guy was bragging once I remember about not cheating on his wife. Lol

@slurpies--does he use the same bet sizing strategy against the stronger players or does he play more GTO against them?

I'm sure that thanks to this thread that his strategy is now exposed to stronger players most of whom have probably seen this thread and can recognize him as easily as they can recognize Doug Lee. He's probably gonna have to make the appropriate adjustments in his playing philosophy against these guys.

GTO vs solid players. He employs that strategy in multiway pots when there is a weaker player. I remember I thought he had bet sizing tell but it all depended on who he was playing against.
