The field size for that event (2012 WSOPE MAIN) was much larger than this 10k Razz. So by what are you qualifying these? Oh and Congrats Phil, say what ya wan't but the Kid gets it done. Look at Seiver, he used to crush, now he just kind of grinds in and eeks out a FT of every SHR ever played..

Serious amount of butthurt from 0 bracelet cool kids.
When he wins 14 it's variance - when one of them wins one it's because they are excellent players.

I'm not the one screaming how awesome his cash to FT ratio is, why should I be the one to do that?

Deeb was just pointing out some spots that Phil was a little over-aggressive and gambly, which might have been big ICM mistakes? It might be +EV for a cash game, but not necessarily the best play in a MTT scenario.

An example (iirc) was Gordo completing a six, another player 2-betting, and Hellmuth flatting with a J (presumably with wheel-wheel under).
Didn't see that specific hand, but yeah that's horrible regardless of any live reads, cash game vs. MTT, etc. Not saying he was the worst razz player at that FT, but certainly wasn't the best.

cause you and your desert friend are just taking the tournaments you want to probe your point. of course you aren't anti hellmuth so you're opinion regarding this isn't biased at all and it's just pure maths.

that makes sense though, given how many people have been called the goat. If you really mean it, that makes sense.

he continued to do so despite being well aware of the cheating scandal. then the site disappears, no money to be had for the players, while he still collected all his endorsement checks. **** him.

I like Phil Hellmuth because he is entertaining and he is pretty darn good at tournaments. He seems to work very hard at those two things: succeeding in tournament poker and cultivating his image. I admire people of all walks of life who have passion and find a way to succeed.

On the other side of the coin, he is not near the top of the list of players that I look up to most like Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Phil Galfond, Sean Nolan, Abe Limon, and Aaron Wilt just to name a few. I generally admire *cash game* players who have a long history of success. Donkaments are donkaments. While they do require elements of skill, I think cash games are generally the best way to make money and assess a player's skill levels.

Trolling? You can't be serious.

Just go ahead and admit that the cash/FT ratio thing isn't all that impressive.

There are many things that Phil has done that are impressive, so no need to hold on to something that isn't that out of line with expectation.

so yeah Phil is good for the game, like slow rolling a loud mouth.

BTW speaking of slow rolling a loudmouth, pretty sure recent bracelet winner Shaun Deeb has Phil well outkicked in terms of personality disorders....

His play to satellite into One Drop #1 on a freeroll without putting up a single cent of the $1MM entry may be his greatest poker accomplishment of all time

Hail Hellmuth

(ofc there was that *friendship* w Greg Pierson and his sleezy thievery, but lets just set that aside :P )

Can you show us the dozens of players with a better ratio please and also a breakdown of your wonderful math to show how little out of line with expectation his clearly unimpressive feat is?
