Eyedoctor warns me not to play on PS Eyedoctor warns me not to play on PS

Since I moved to Pokerstars I experience I can't make the same hours I used to at the other network. Not even close. I doublechecked this several times by playing at the old network to be absolutely sure about this. There I can pretty much go on untill I am satisfied with my result, while at PS that is impossible.

My feeling was the only difference that could explain this was the size of the slider and boxes and all other items you need to click. (By coincedence I sold a lot of 100 Hz TV's and non-interlaced computerscreens in my life so that gave me this idea).
So I explained this to an eyedoctor and showed him what I actually was talking about.

He reacted very surprised to this and told me about "computer eye strain" and an interesting story how much work your eyes do every day. He compared it to a 45 mile walk. People that work behind computerscreens often walk twice as much on a day. If you play poker full time on Pokerstars that could become even hundreds of miles.
Day in, day out. Basically you are ruining your eyes if you play at Pokerstars!

While I got a feeling you're not gonna get much respect here, I do find it much harder to put in volume at stars than full tilt.

I always just thought it was because of rush.

you can do things to cut down on eye movement like stacking tables, sitting in the 5 seat so everything is close together and using ahks so you don't bother with the bet slider at all and i have a black background to hopefully reduce glare etc

This isn't exactly a subject to make fun of. May be you rather don't want to know?
Some law should indeed protect us from the health issues caused by PS software.

Exactly!
But it does. PS is like the 50 Hz TV or interlaced computerscreen.
I am no eyedoctor so I can't explain this in other terms.
At PS your eyes have to work much harder than necessary.

These glasses would be great to reduce glare, but can't do anything against the effects of using "rapid, repetitive movements". Googled on eye strain and this was about the first thing I found:

What causes eyestrain?
Eyestrain is primarily a result of overworking the muscles of the eyes. This can happen in four ways. The first is simply a result of human evolution: our eyes have evolved to see at a distance in a three-dimensional world, but a monitor presents the user with a close-up, two-dimensional environment. As a result, after hours in front of the computer, the eye focusing point extends beyond the screen and out to a resting point of accommodation. This causes the user to exert extra effort to keep the eyes focused on the screen.

Glare is another common factor in eye muscle fatigue. Like a TV screen, if there is a glare on the monitor the eyes have to work harder to discern an image on the screen.

Thirdly is the position of the monitor. In their natural resting position the eyes accommodate a field of vision straight ahead and slightly down. If the monitor doesn't fall in that field of vision, muscles must continually work to hold the eyes differently.

The final way to overwork the muscles of the eye is to use rapid, repetitive movements such as darting your eyes between a source document and the screen.

Aside from eye muscle fatigue, the eyeball itself can become irritated, contributing to eyestrain. Studies have shown that while staring at a monitor, users "forget" to blink which deprives the eye of needed moisture.

Poker Stars ruined Hal Lubarsky's eyesight. He signed with Full Tilt to correct the issue and his eye sight has improved so much that at times you can find him 6-tabling. His vision isn't perfect yet, but if he continues to grind it out i'm sure he'll have 20/20 vision by the next WSOP ME.

I get sleepy when I play at pokerstars I thought it was because I was playing not many tables so I started playing 60+ but still the same... now I see where the problem is.
