News that Ivey put up 1 million dollars alongside Robl's 1.5 million for the Phuas' bail.

Also Dwan was with them when they were arrested and also at their intial court hearing.

ICE has put a hold on the Phua's. I don't believe you can post bail on an immigration hold. They will have to appear before an immigration judge to get that hold dropped, or be deported.

Don't they want to be deported?

I don't know if they wanted to be deported or not. I would assume they wanted out of jail here though.

I'm also not sure if ICE will contact their home government to release them into their custody, due to them being out on bail from their home country when they committed a crime in ours? Maybe they fly them back and drop em off at a bust stop :P lol

After reading article and Dwan being at defense table, it seems that Dwan could be next to be indicted shortly ...unless he cooperates with Feds

This story = every case that Federal Gov't brings = major conspiracy, and a chance for petty functionaries to be quoted by name in the local fish wrap.

I never understood how the casino is okay with someone stockpiling a ridiculous amount of chips in their box? Don't they care about auditing their chips? Isn't an outstanding chip a liability for them on their balance sheets, essentially?

The big denomination chips all have an RFID chip in them. They aren't leaving the casino without the ARIA not knowing about it. As long as the casino can track the chips I would imagine they are thrilled they are not being redeemed.

I'm thinking more of years ago, before all this RFID stuff, I played at a place where a guy was legendary and the rumor was that at one point he had a trash bag in the trunk of his car filled with nearly every black chip the casino had. Plenty of stories like that one around the country, I'm sure.

Reminds me of Archie Karas trying to clean out Binion's or whatever casino it was: they had to go ask him if for some high denomination chips because he had nearly all of them in his posession, or so the legend goes.

Actually, this sounds like Thomas Keller in Arizona, confirmed by your screen name - Alizona.

I remember reading about this years ago.

I doubt Robl actually had those chips. They were probably given to him by some rich asian who is close with Phua, but Robl came forward claiming he won the chips playing poker so there is no trace of Phua's buddies putting up the $. Notice it wasn't "i'll put up cash I have in a bank account, or in my investment portfolio, or property I own worth $xxxxxxx" because it would take time to set all that up while poker chips can appear pretty quickly. What are the chances Robl actually has $1.5M in assets?

Also, like someone else said, I would suspect big chips are monitored and it's a big deal if someone tries to leave the casino with them.

Casino chips are interest free loans for them. They have no problem with you letting them rot in your box.

Also it wouldn't surprise me if the bulk of Robl's Aria chips were won from Phua.
