Ridiculous assumption because one FBI agent told one reporter there is a 14k triad link.

i'm not saying he's involved directly in the sex trade or w/e but i think its a much more ridic assumption to assume one of the richest men in china is running an underground betting operation taking bets up to 50mil and ISN'T mobbed up in some way.

My understanding is that he should only get deported to China/Macau if they can win an extradition case against him (do they even have a treaty?). He would normally just be seen onto a plane out of the US to anywhere he bought a ticket to (and even if it had to be his country of citizenship that is Malaysia.)

If any of this was true then the bets would probably be coming from mainland Chinese who afaik cannot legally gamble at all, and from HK residents who can only bet sports with the jockey club monopoly, which presumably has lol vig.

HKJC charges 10%-20% vig and still makes billions every year, no wonder offshore websites flourish. Mainlanders can legally gamble through the China Sports Lottery but it probably also has a sick vig.

Oh wait of course... a guy who takes 350 million dollars in illegal sports betting bets would never ever do anything else illegal, silly me, he's just a hard working entrepreneur. Or maybe, just maybe you're being just a tad bit naive thinking that he's not involved in one of the triads (mafia).

Honestly i could really care less, but i think my advice to tom hall was very sound. I would not involve myself with people who are going to either be dead or in federal prison very soon. It will be one or the other, and if you don't believe that you're even more naive than gilligan.

It looks like this is what they used to get their warrant. I think it's pretty likely that the cops just made this up. They had probably some illegal NSA-type **** directed at these guys.

This whole story just reeks of a massive amount of bull**** on the part of the government. Billionaire businessmen whales get targeted in a casino because they requested an unusual amount of computer equipment. The FBI sends in undercovers, but they end up being restricted to the butler's quarters and get nothing. Then a week later they send in more undercovers who happen to see Phua sitting at his computer with a sports betting site on the screen. Search warrants and arrests follow.

Regardless of what Phua and co. did or didn't do, the government is full of **** on this.

Do you actually have any proof that he is NOT a hard working entrepreneur or are you just making those assumptions ? Do you think everyone that plays high stakes poker or makes large wagers (allegedly) is connected to the mob? I guess Paul Newey is probably in the Triads too because he's rich and gambles.

What's laughable is that you think Tom Hall cares about your silly advice. Do you think he got to where he is today by taking advice from NVG? I highly doubt it. If he was actually operating a wire room with ties to 14k he sure as hell would not be doing it from the US in a lv hotel.

Also, anyone with criminal ties and an estimated net worth of 6.6 bil does not even come close to getting their hands dirty, they do not hang out in wire rooms and they do not come to the US at all even if he has diplomatic status. 99% likely he is completely legitimate and has to brush elbows with the criminal element just like everyone else who makes money in gaming. The FBI knows this.

I think its safe to say when paul phua got deported from macau they still would have a number off bets to cover & being a honest man would do so as quickly as possible, thats the trouble with getting ure operation interfered with u still gotta collect the $.
