Actually, relative to the amount of money they make, I expect it's a pretty small amount.

But I don't really understand the point of this question anyway. Why not ask what happens to the rake? The answer would be the same, and I have faith that you can figure it out.

I can remember previous N9 we'd hear news about how much interest was added to the prize pool for the last nine players. Not sure if there was any news of that this year.

I remember the year I heard #s, the amount was embarrassingly small. They were getting less than you can get at a savings account, because for some reason savings account weren't safe enough or something.

From googling, this is all I could find 2008: "The pool accrued $98,179 in interest during the break" (source: http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/ar...i81109057.html )

"The grand total of interest accrued on $30 million for 4 months – a whopping $450."
"Apparently Harrah’s puts them in T-bills and adds the interest to the prize pool." (source: http://cardplayerlifestyle.com/inter...ries-of-poker/ )

Probably they stopped publicizing it after the numbers became absurdly low.

 Since each of the nine players received ninth place money, the person who finishes in ninth place will receive no additional cash.
 The Main Event paid out 1,000 places and each of those places was slotted a percentage of the prize pool totaling 100%. When
redistributing the interest, 992 of the 1,000 slots were removed, with the percentages redistributed amongst slots 1-8 in a sliding scale
percentage consistent with the original payout structure.
 The $15,789,938 was put into a Money Market Account at Fidelity Investments (Fund Name: FIMM FUNDS: MONEY MARKET PORT
INST CL, Fund #2013, Symbol: FNSXX) on July 16, 2015 and removed on November 2, 2015 with a balance of $15,797,795.

I think UB let your balance accrue interest if you reached a certain rewards tier. That was neat.

Seems impossible. When I talk to the financial geniuses in the Sports Events FAQ they claim since I'm not making 10% on my money a year investing I'm an idiot. How could a big corporation with tons of resources not be clearing 1%

Maybe the FAQ members should invest the money next year?

BOA and Chase offer me a whopping 0.01% interest rate on their savings accounts because they want me to invest in their other things. That would give $100/year on 1 mil dollars

Cap One 360 is nice tho. I worked out with them as long as I keep a high min balance they are giving me 2.8%

Account Balance Interest Rate
$0 - $49,999.99 0.20%
$50,000.00 - $99,999.99 0.75%
$100,000.00 or more 0.90%

I just googled this. Am I missing something?

nah, OP thinks poker rooms are making tons of money, b/c they have a lot of money at the banks. op seems to ignores that this money has to be at disposal and that banks sometimes charge for accounts ... anyway, solid thread that didn't lose my interest while reading
