Does anyone have a link to a good write-up to the current poker scene in Manila?

Caesars lost their good reputation ages ago, and they don't even care anyways. Its all corporate run by bean-counters these days....Vegas' glory days are history now....ask anyone who was a Vegas regular 25-30 years ago about how its all changed, with Caesar's being an oft-cited example~

In short, they could care less how this makes them look. As long as the once-a-year vacationers come from Springfield or whereever, rent some rooms, eat some food, see a show, and play slots -- lots of slot -- they will please the execs and shareholders of the huge corporation, and that's that. People that fit that mold don't read about this kind of stuff!

Wow. Good read. How in the hell can someone like Jungleman want to risk getting cheated by playing with these guys? No wonder he lost $5 million. FFS.

The big game was alive and well in Manila over the past few days when I was there. Usual crazy games and stakes. HK$20,000 / US$2500 antes with no blinds was an interesting variant. Fantastic super high roller event as well. Got to spend some time with Steve O'Dwyer (who busted me with quads) and eventual winner Fedor Holz. Both great guys on respective heaters and humble with it. Wish them both all the best.

Can you report any big hands or big winners/losers Tom?

How'd you run in the game?

I didn't play the cash game. Its got too big for my comfort zone, though I managed to lose enough in the High Roller after doing a third bullet to Steve O'dwyers quads. Sorry can't comment on the game, Winfred or Poker King may do an update shortly so for him to comment if he wishes to.

Great read. Paul Phua is the nuts.

Seriously, **** "financial crime" departments that work with gambling. Its like "Oh no, some rich guys want to gambol and its not allowed in their country! We have to stop them!". Its just a lame excuse for the feds to seize more money. Cringed hard reading the part about the SWAT raid of the villas. Pathetic way to deal with non-violent "criminals".

Don't feel comfortable playing in the game but can fire off 600k in a tournament guess that speaks to the massive swings involved.

Cheers for posting again as always Tom

Not to mention the unconstitutional cutting of the cable and utter waste of US tax dollars.

Can't be that big of a waste of dollars if they were just planning on seizing all of his money

Tom I love the videos of you beating up guys like Chino Rheem. Any chance we can make suggestions on who you beat up next? I'd love to see you box Howard Lederer and wipe that smug, thieving grin off his face.

Haven't been on 2+2 since 2016, somebody reminded me yesterday about this old thread. God those early days in Macau were brilliant fun.

Still my favourite chip stack picture of all time

Durrr at the height of his fame with a cool US$3-4m in front of him. Best plaques ever - HKD100,000.
