I thought I read somewhere that Scotty Ngyuen and Tony G were going to be in the lineup. Maybe this even came from DN or I heard it during an interview on Pokercast or Wicked Chops? Too bad. I was looking forward to seeing their personalities in the mix. Maybe not the best poker, but still interesting. Oh well.

I'll miss the big 3 from FTP as well, but still am excited for this lineup. Always interesting to see something new/different and the businessmen types should add a nice dynamic .

Norm McDonald has been playing poker seriously longer than 90%+ of NVG. He's got as much experience as nearly any qualified broadcaster. So, if he's motivated to do a good job, this could work out well.

However, I think it may be a serious criticism when posters say Norm might not meed the comedy standards of NVG. Do you really think Norm McDonald can meet the NVG standard?

NVG Announcer on HSP: "How much will Negreanu bet his bottom set on the river against so many opponents? It looks like about...tree fiddy."

Norm MacDonald is hilarious... he truly is... but his style of comedy differs wildly from Gabe Kaplan's approach. I am not sure how this will be conducive to providing commentary on a poker hand and players. Gabe had a long-standing rapport with many of the regulars. I know Norm plays a lot, but I just do not see him being able to needle guys like DN and Doyle without coming across as callous, whereas Gabe could tweak those guys and get away with it.

I'm glad they are including more amateur businessmen types. This is a plus. But it's about the only plus. I mean -- how/why will broadcasting in 3D affect my entertainment value in watching poker?!? Seems like a waste of resources. Pay Gabe and AJ and skip the 3D investment perhaps? Or not. Oh, well.

Of course, I'm a sheep who will still watch every episode.

I think Norm will likely do fine as the host. I'm more concerned about the lineup... and 3D seems pointless to me.

I am happy that they have brought some amateur players back, though.

For the overall good of poker, it's a great choice. I believe the average viewer (fish) relates more with Norm than Gabe. I hope Norm speaks fish and makes the show successful. For those of you just complaining about the beat just delivered to you, are you ones to berate the fish at the table?

That being said, I'm disappointed to hear they got rid of Kaplan. It also obviously sucks very badly we won't be seeing Ivey, Dwan and Antonius on there.
