The high stakes section last night was playing a new triple draw variant at 300-600 and 400-800 limits.

Players included Shaun deeb, Jason mercier and Brian Hastings.

Pots were huge and the swings were in the $50k range.

Here's the basic rules.

Its a one winner game. High hands win over low hands. Flush to qualify for high.

Royal flush
Straight flush
Four of a kind
Full house
Flush
Best low hand

There were only one or two four of a kinds and maybe five full houses in the hours I watched. The key swing hands were flushes, and the kickers proved to be very important.

Most hands a low won.

Several draw rounds were capped, but it was hard to tell who was going for high or low.

I predict this game will take off at this years wsop.

Biggest edges are almost always in the new games. How can you play a game that's been around forever and really smart and/or hardworking people have figured out while getting raked to death and not go broke? Ok, good question.

Same betting rounds as triple draw. Best low is 23457. Straights are worst possible hand.

From what I've heard, Shaun Deeb is a master at adjusting to these new games before others (badugi years ago, OFC more recently). I like the hi-low no split aspect, but seems quite complicated.
