I fail to see how being limited to a single site playing against players from 4 provinces would be anything even remotely resembling "a pretty sweet deal".

Don't get me wrong, I am against any form of censorship and site blocking.

But I am not a grinder, I am a reg that already plays on EJ because the caliber is poorer than Stars. I am a bad player, so playing on EJ lets me win for bigger stakes that I could play elsewhere.

So now, if all of that happens, then I get a better software and more players in my pool (from Ontario).

I admit, it's selfish and I will be very happy if it DOES NOT happen, but if it does, then my own personal situation will be better.

except if that happens then you also get the good winning regs to be a lot more active on there, thus preventing you to win money given you are bad as you said

Both the Ontario government and OLG are so incompetent that the poker site has been delayed for years and probably won't happen for another couple of years.

What do you expect? It is the most socialist and most corrupt government in Canada that seems to believe that the public exists to fund the lifestyles of those in it.

Sucks for quebec, id be v v surprised if this happens doe.

Good thing i live in ontario i guess.

Also the desire of the gov't to FORCE these INFERIOR products on us is ****ing disturbing. I never understood actual logic of forcing people to use ****ty garbage instead of the far superior ROW based sites for casino/poker/sports? They should just straight up tell us they want to rape us softly and steal our money via the lawmakers, as thats 100% the truth.

we dont even ****ing tax gambling up here, ergo how could any gambling/sportsbetting site actually BE illegal?

Anytime im in a poker room, at a bar, with my friends who have already been drilled this info, i actively tell EVERYONE not to play on government run sites or use their sportsbetting kiosks. Like proline. Yet proline still makes millions per year. ****ing gross.

Proline (gov't sports) is ****ing garbage with HUGE vig. Proline is also impossible to beat. Im sure all the government based casino sites will be super rigged in terms of payouts.

If it passes; do you think they will allow us to withdraw our rolls before blocking the sites?

Gambling falls under the "Windfall Tax" rule and is not taxed unless it is classified as an occupation or regular and predictable revenue stream. I believe a guy who was killing it on Pro-Line a few years ago (when there were mistakes in the lines that did not reflect player scratches) had a million dollar win year classified as income.

That said, if you can avoid government-operated gambling of any kind you would be wise to do so as the odds are skewed against players to reflect the lack of competition and the bloated public-sector overhead.

The WSOP in Montreal is at Montreal Casino, rather than Playground which is interesting. I am not sure how it has been in the past, but I checked on the WSOP website and found something interesting.

Sat, May 7th
6:00 PM
1-Day Event Event #11: $320 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em (Online Only)

This is an online ring event. Register and play on EspaceJeux

edit: not trying to post the link, trying to show what is being advertised

Yes, why not create a run on the bank ?

Wonder what law governs Quebec's authority to order blocking of access to Kahnawake-based sites, or more specifically, to delegate to the Loto, the authority to do so ?

WSOP not licensed to offer online poker in Quebec, maybe ? However, that does create an interesting conflict.

i dont think they are technically offering it. its dubbed an online "wsop" event, but legally they arnt running it if its on espacejeux. that would be the quebec gov't running it.

Bodog.eu just banned residents of Quebec for deposit/withdraws. You can't even log into your account anymore.

All talk but nothing happens, not a single sites emailed me to say they were pulling out but bodog, i suspect it's because the bodog owner is a canada/quebec citizen (or used to be?)
