He's right when he says that higher rake drives away the pros, although at micros that's silly. I used to visit LA to play Stud/8 at The Bike when they had a really good promo going w/ low rake. Then one day I tried the game at Hollywood Park w/ no promo and a higher rake and never went back to The Bike's game. The players w/ a clue were all at The Bike leaving a much better game at Hollywood Park.

And I can't guess how many players I know who have a better chance to win at BJ than they do at poker. It's not a good choice if you're looking to play for hours in a social situation but they'd have a better gamble playing basic strat BJ than they do at a poker table.

Why would he even want to stick around knowing how much everyone hates him? If he were struggling financially I would get it, but the guy is loaded and hated and still keeps coming back getting people to hate him more.

If it were me it would defeat the entire purpose of having all the money and success if it just leads to me being entirely hated by everyone with my actions. It wouldn't even be worth the financial gain at that point when you already have a bankroll. What's the point of having all the money and success if you're just universally hated?

This guy has hands down been probably the worst representative and ambassador of any competitive sport out there. That's saying a lot. Obviously, I don't think he pays much attention to what is said about him. I think he is one of those celebrity types that surrounds himself with sycophants who kiss his ass all the time and he just lives in his own delusional Danny World where everyone loves him. That really seems to be the case, at this point.

So one minute you think the rake is keeping the pros away and the next minute you think it isn't?? So which is it?

Surely what actually keeps the pros away from micros is the fact that it's only 1cent/2cent or $1/$2, right? (and therefore too small to bother with)

Sounds like he wants to admit that the rake is too high and unbeatable at the micros (so high that even a pro wouldn't bother with it, as he says), but for some reason he can't just state that clearly.

It's a flat out lie to say the players are losing their money more slowly. If they lose it slowly, then the game can be beaten and the pros show up. If you raise the rake to drive out the pros, they lose it just as fast, only to the house.

Pretty sure Daniel will become a politician when he's older.
