It's not like this is private information that we had to dig around and get. Bobo Fett basically vouched for OP saying he wouldn't make this up so why do we need to wait for him to defend himself? Just in case you think OP is making it up go do a quick google search and you will see that he has been doing this for at least the last two years all across the US.

This is a well known "short con" that has been around forever but can be very lucrative. Years ago I read a story by a reporter in Los Angelas that followed a grifter around LA that did the same scam. This con man would dress very nicely and approach the mark saying that his car had broken down and he desperately needed $50 to get across town because his wife was giving birth or his child was hit by a car or his mother broke her hip etc. A surprising number of people helped, and of course he said he would send them the money back. The reporter estimated he was making $1000 a week.

op you deserve to get ripped off- funny thing is if he actually was in that ramada you probably would have given him money.

don't even waste your time with people begging for money.
Great post about stupid people given the fact you didn't: 1) Read the thread title where OP says this guy *tried* to scam him, or;

2) Read the actual OP you are responding to in a high and mighty tone, in which OP actually states he didn't give him any money and is trying to do the community a favor.

Stupid people indeed.

You have no right to talk about anything being douchey when you use the word "bro" and call people "son".

Other than the fact that it is against forum rules to post information I don't see how it is a problem and I don't see why you are making such a big deal of it. I was unaware that posting (scammers) info was against the rules because I'm almost positive it has been done before here. The post is down and gone so get over it. If anyone wanted that information it's not like they couldn't find it on their own.

As for some quick references: Matt Glantz has known me for years and said he would vouch for me. Also Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler used to stake me in 2005-2006 before I had to take some time off from poker due to personal issues. He will also vouch for my game.

.....
How about it Chainsaw / Glantz, can we get a "vouch" ?

Really old trick. People in the city near me do this. They wait around the nice area of town and say they locked their keys in their car and need money lol.

Just found this webcam video of NVG regular PSUmike1999 when he signed on to 2+2 this morning and saw the thread that was trending. . .

Likelihood he insta-starts new account and tries to defend himself here?

What did you google? I can't find any other similar stories online. Thanks

Just received an email from an acquaintance. He said..

"all this stuff about Michael Borovetz scamming people at the airport is NOT true. He's a stand up guy, and I can personally vouch for him. He donates all of his winnings to charity. Yeah, that's the ticket. Even my wife, Morgan Fairchild, can vouch for him.

Sincerely,
Tommy Flanagan"

A PSUMike thread where he talks about a scam and takes the moral high ground. This guy has some chutzpah!

This guy is a psycho. It's like he is painting himself to be a good guy when he is really the opposite. Kind of like a pedophile who is really publicly concerned with "helping" kids. PSU education, FTW!

His telephone number, which he gave me. ..... Whatever he planned to do about paying me back any loan, the scam was the story about the job interview, airline delay, et cetera, which popped out on the first search as a repeated scam report, including one from LAX.

I did not care that he was asking for money as much as lying about it, pulling the "Member of the Tribe" angle, and simply adding on detail after detail, trying various other angles, like the repeated "this CEO was going to give me $300" or "Penn State", there is an ATM machine over there, Southwest did me wrong, "I need more than the $139 I said the hotel would cost me, you can't call the Ramada, et cetera

I did not realize he had anything to do with poker or any reason to post here, until I later googled his name, and saw his photo as well on pokerpages, card player.

Yep, in addition to this one, and the one I referenced on the WhoJedi deal, he is all over any scam threads. He posted in the Jason Young/Moneymaker one a lot as well, and of course all the Borgata ones.

Wow...

"But his story was not all rosy. In 2007 Borovetz took a break from poker to overcome his admitted gambling addiction. When he won $150,000 playing Pai Gow and then lost it all in 40 minutes, he knew he needed to do something to change his ways."
