this is just terrible, seriously how many man hours do you think the cops devoted to investigating, surveillance, etc on this raid? if they came in guns blazzing its not like they just stumbled on the game just a massive waste of tax dollars. sorry to hear it.

just because charges were dropped doesnt mean they cant reinstate them.
so suing for money back may force them to charge the players again. the money for a small game isnt worth losing in court.

OP have you considered getting an attorney to take your case on a contingent fee? It might be affordable because civil rights cases have punitive damages (i.e. extra $ for you) and fee-shifting (i.e. the state pays your legal fees if you win).

I saw an old episode of "dog the bounty hunter" yesterday where they were hunting down a fugitive in Hawaii charged with possession of a gambling device.

My first thought was she had a three card monty tourist hustle going ( which should be illegal, imo) but it was clear after dog visited a ton of predominantly Asian run back room pokie machine type rooms that Hawaii has a super hard on for any and all things gambol.

I understand the tweaker problem is out of control there, and the speed + degenerate combination make for an awful setup, but the poker game raid is inexcusable.

I've always found it interesting that Hawaii has no gambling. I talked to a local who said there are full-on illegal underground casinos who payoff the police, so if you're having a home game, the po-po will shut your ass down. Tony Soprano got nothing on those cops who raided your game. They're just protecting the games that "cooperate" with local law enforcement.

This world we live... But I wonder if a lot of you feel about non violent drug use as you do poker? Because if you feel that non-violent drug offenders should be locked up, then I can't blame the mentality of the average American not defending poker players.

We should all be up in arms about the injustice any minority group faces, as long as that minority group isn't hurting other people.
