just wanted to say that i've had jose on my skype for the past 8 or 9 months, maybe more, and have skype chatted with him on occasion. He approached me for coaching but we never ended up doing any sessions. I don't know any of the details about his story except that I know he was very young and I know he's a real person.

WoT

I've only read the first page, so don't know if this was already mentioned.

How do you explain that you are a complete unknown to every portuguese high stakes player? Why not? It's a bit suspicious that you only know anglophile high stakes twoplustwoer's. If you played mostly at the euro sites (betfair, ipoker, unibet) people would've known about you one way or another.

Why are you revealing the results with your real name. Do you plan to move somewhere else?

Also, what local bookstore in Cascais carry the books you mentioned?

But best of all, how could you play in Sporting and be considered for the national youth team (U16, U17?) and still be a top student at the same time. Does not compute. For people who don't know, Sporting may be the best academy in the world after Barcelona for creating skilled youth footballers in the last decade, with a consistency out of the ordinary. Of course it goes without saying that none of them has many good grades.

Reading it again it says that you stopped playing at 13 (?), so forget it. There's only national team for 14+, so it was just wishful thinking on your part I guess. Nothing wrong with that. I still find the rest of your story unbelievable though.

People like you give us hope OP. Keep living the dream.
03-03-2011 , 03:39 AM
I believe you man. gl

I'm portuguese and i'm a really close friend to phounder, so I know that your story is real!

This is 2+2 so... a lot of haters and wannabes!

Boa sorte e continua humilde até chegares ao topo!

PS: I know why your post is so well written

Gentleman, greetings.

My name is Marco, José's little brother. If I may be so bold, please permit me to offer a few words in defense of my brother to those who may question his authenticity, or even his passion and dedication in the pursuit of holdem excellence.

Under what epistemological premise dare you suggest that his heretofore struggles and successes be some cruel and elaborate hoax for the collective amusement of a few high stakes regulars? Ye gods, if I weren't but fourteen years of age and slight in build, I assure you I would inflict rapid and accurate blows upon your cheeks with my fists.

I shan't continue further; my anger has brought sweat upon my brow and I cannot be seen like this for my show and tell performance at school this morning. Suffice it to say that I pity the cynical lens through which you interpret this wonderful, but flawed world of ours. You may never share the joys that José, father and I experience when one of your own blood reaps the rewards of persistence and determination in chasing a noble dream.

Farewell,

Marco.

If true, great story. Great read regardless.

You seem like a genuine and humble guy. We need more of those in the poker world :]

Cool story and best of luck.

this thread, and 'looking for prodigy' thread, read like one giant PR campaign to raise OP's profile.

so far we've had personal pictures, ptr links, youtube links, web/blog link, facebook page links... not to mention an elaborate story typed out by someone else. just sayin'.

anyway i wish you luck in the future OP, always cool to hear these kinds of stories.
03-03-2011 , 04:09 AM
Still dont believe this.

hmmm good point. the name definitely makes the legitimacy of that post questionable.
