They do use software, Gus obv doesn't. He never said illegal software, so there is nothing to discuss here, after all. Without PT-Omaha or whatever, you are at a big disadvantage in flop-games, especially in any limit HU game being played over several K hands (or 3 matches...). Nothing else has been said here but plain facts formulated as a question by Gus. Not to mention that there might very likely be other , more advanced software-stuff running, too.

I think it's pretty clear that Gus wasn't referring to something like PT Omaha or HEM Omaha, that have been out for years and years (unless he's even more out of touch than I thought possible).
I have nothing against Gus, I think he's a really smart guy who's lost touch with how technical the games have become nowadays and just hasn't been able to keep up.

My point was that the most likely scenario is that he's losing his objectivity from having dumped 10 million dolars (understandable), has a huge ego and that it's easier when things go poorly for you to accuse others than to question yourself.

It's almost 2014, this is not unusual at all. Plenty of players weren't even playing in 2009 but play very high stakes profitably today.

There's a host of guys that were low limits winners, but nothing incredible back then, that are crushing it today at the highest levels.

I'm sure SallyWoo would happily play Gus live assuming he had some guaranteed x amount of hands played over a fixed amount of time if Gus is serious about thinking that some computer program is the only reason he is losing.

To me Gus' comment seems pretty straight-forward. He's (imo) assuming that sally and others are using programs more advanced than hem/pt and developed privately, and it's maybe getting to the slippery-slope point where it becomes an arms-race in programming instead of playing poker. I don't have a particularly strong opinion on that in general, I just assume that's what he means.

I've been thinking for a while now that you could easily have an AI telling you what to do at all times instead of having it play for you directly; that would be completely undetectable and I'd be very surprised if it's not being done already.

Personally, I'm a bit of a purist and I think poker should've stayed a live game only since most people cannot be trusted not to spoil absolutely everything they put their hands on (obv there's nothing wrong with online poker itself).

When you have player like Sauce complaining that the games are less than ever about actual poker skill, it's pretty telling...

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if the programs that WCG and others are supposed to have are along the lines of decision-making AI's. If it's not the case, it's probably only a matter of time.
