i actually loved living in winnipeg. and most people who move there love it too.

never had a problem with mosquitoes there. they spray in the city and in the country it's generally too windy....

only real drawback i found to winnipeg was that the winter was sooo long. felt like at least 5 months.....

people are amazing. friendliest hot chicks on earth. and tons of them.

ease of life is great. $3500 for a top end golf country club .......... summers are amazing..

this last winter in vancouver was excellent........ winter before (january 2012) was unbelievably bad.

I use BMO. First int'l bankwire deposit & the proof of mailing address thing took almost 4weeks (but I think it is typically faster than that).
You can deposit on Stars with MasterCardGiftCard available at ShoppersDrugMart, 7Eleven, etc. (I think it's ~$5 or $6 charge on a $100 card... they also come in $25, $50 & $200 denominations).

Does anyone know the answers to why this is happening to me on skrill? I deposited $200 with my visa card for non gambling purposes, so obv it won't allow me to deposit on stars. I then had a friend transfer me $300 to see if that would allow me to deposit those funds on stars. I already have my visa card verified in my skrill account, however it is not showing the $300 that was transferred to me as available funds to deposit into pokerstars when I try to deposit...it is only showing the $200 that is non-gambling funds. Anyone have any idea what I should do since skrill takes 10 yrs to respond?

I don't know how to say this any clearer than the 10 times I already have said this in this thread.

I work for a credit union. I have worked in the financial services industry for 20 years, DO NOT bank with any financial institution that has an American presence (TD, Royal, BMO, etc.). No British Columbia based credit union has any affiliation with any US financial institution. I have been using eChecks for YEARS with no problem through the company I work for, and know this would be the same no matter which credit union I chose to use. No issues. I am not dumb, I do not have transactions of 10K or even close, but I have NEVER had any issues. Why anyone would deal with anyone else than a local credit union is beyond me. I will sit back, be ignored, and repeat this post in 6 months, because for some reason everyone likes all them big multinational banks who advertise all the happy looking (presumably) customers of that perfect 30 -35 demographic on TV, and completely ignore the solution that is sitting right there in front of them - a local credit union.

Hmm... maybe I'll open up a Credit Union account (I live ~2min. walk from one). g/f uses it w/o a problem with Stars.

I will be in Canada for 3 months studying abroad. I used to play on FTP but never before had a PS account. I was thinking of playing on PS for the 3 months I'm over there. How would i go about setting up my bank account? Which bank should I use? Will I encounter problems if I'm open and honest about the bank account's purpose? I am a USA citizen. Any help is really appreciated!!

I used BMO and told them up front that I was in Canada to play poker and they didn't have a problem with it.

I don't think you can set up an account without going in in person. You may or may not have to already have an apartment up there before you can open an account as well, not sure.

Rent will depend a lot on what area you're in, everything else in general is noticeably more expensive than the U.S., with the possible exception of sushi which is blissfully cheap.

The item selection here made me laugh pretty hard for some reason. Are you a monkey?

Clearly a troll, Canadians don't use bushel's as a measure of bananas. We use monkey fortnights - the amount a monkey could eat in a fortnight.

Oh man, don't even start. The BC Liquor laws/govt monopoly are a joke. I buy my liquor at the duty free coming back into Vancouver every time. Just this weekend, large bottle of Bacardi Rum at the Lynden duty-free, $15. An even smaller bottle than that at a BC Liquor store here, $46! Same with Patron Tequila, beer, etc. You'll pay 2-3x what it costs in the States because of the liquor taxes/duties in BC.

There are a few options:

1) Brew your own
2) Duty free (tell them you've been out 48 hours or no alcohol for you)
3) Drive to Alberta, load up the truck, and bring it all back to BC

Canada is a big place, and prices for different things vary by region. Vancouver is probably the most expensive city in Canada. Most of that is due to the cost of housing. Alcoholic beverages, tobacco products and gasoline will be significantly higher thoughout Canada than in the US because of tax structures. A few thigns will be less expensive in Canada. What sort of costs are you most concerned about, and to where are you moving?

Any help or suggestions?

Hello all. I'm based in Seattle and really really want to get myself setup to be able to play on Stars on trips to Vancouver.....so tired of playing on the Merge Network. Does anyone have any good ideas on how this would be possible without breaking the law? lol
