No, the problem is the value system of the gambling community. It's a morally bankrupt, predatory/parasitic mentality that's praised. Winning players are morally "superior" but losing players who can't pay are scum bags. I'm sorry but just because a gambler is successful at his craft and doesn't owe people money doesn't mean he's morally superior to the losing gambler who doesn't have the ability or control to pay his debts.

I don't expect a bunch of people within the gambling community to agree to that. Because you believe in the parasitic/predatory behavior that a professional gambler engages in. There's a reason that professional gamblers don't have a great reputation in society.

I'm sure you'd take great pity on someone who raped your sister, because he didn't have the ability to control his urges or find an appropriate outlet for his desires.

He's just another victim with no control over his life or actions.

When did that happen? Last year he won a bracelet and $600k. This year he finished 5th in a $10k buy in WSOP event for $130k. Doesn't seem like a bankrupt guy.

I meant to say it seems stupid for a guy in debt for gambling to be entering $10k buy in tournaments. But hey, he's making a lot of money of it, though I wonder how much of that he's using to pay off his debts.

True. I didn't read this whole thread but if it's true that he owes the IRS that much then he will probably never get out of debt.

Back taxes due to the IRS are dischargable in bankruptcy, but only if you filed them timely and they are more than 3 years old, which he probably didn't do.

I don't feel bad for him. Gambling beyond his means, ripping people off betting with money he didn't have, and being associated with full tilt are all reasons to not like him.
