EPT Scam? (Resolved) EPT Scam? (Resolved)

ok this is a bit tldr but its a very ****ty spot for me:

Currently in Prague for the EPT festival and I was planning on playing the 5300€ Mainevent.

I am writing this post to publish concerns about the EPT staff. I want as many people as possible to know about how you are going to be treated by them. I am a long term loyal costumer of Pokerstars and play mostly online. Over the course of my career I generated a lot of rake for them. How I am treated by them is really devastating and shocking to me.

So, without further ado let's get into what happened.
I registered the EPT Main Event 1B the day before it started, which was yesterday. During the last night, I got really sick. Had to vomit 5 times in the night, I can still barely move now and finally decided at about 8 am to call an ambulance after not being able to sleep the whole night. I was transported to the closest hospital, where the physicians examined me. They gave me a drip and I stayed there untill about 10:30 am with suspicion of food poisoning.
I contacted a friend of mine in order to unreg me from the EPT main asap as it started at 12:00 am (according to their unreg-policy u can unreg any tournament before it starts). He himself asked a friend, who was at the venue at the time to ask if I could unregister without being there myself. He had a copy of my PS Live card and at around 10 am he talked to the registration manager F.D. (name is known), who said that I should return my tournament ticket untill 11:45 am of day 2 (tomorrow) and I would be unregistered. This all happened before Day 1B even started.

Later today my friend took my tournament-tickets and headed to the venue in order to return them. When he got there (now its around 7pm) the mentioned manager told him there was no way of unregistering as the stack was already in play. He refered to what was said earlier and that I should be able to unregister. He asked who is superior to him and was answered:"There is no one superior to me". The whole situation was handled very poorly as F.D. got really aggressive and started shouting at my friend, who is also a longterm online regular and a customer of Stars. The whole situation was handled very poorly by the staff on site.
After the argument my friend could effectuate a temporary freezing of my stack until 12 am tomorrow (day 2, blinds 500/1k), which has mitigated to 24k from 30k starting stack . The staff wants me to play tomorrow, which is not only a danger to my own health, but also to everyone who is at my table. My body is not even close to the condition to be able to play long hours of stressfull poker, not to mention that I can barely move. Forcing me to play is abusive and inhuman.
It is a tremendous shame that the company I was a big fan of for years treats me like this.
The staff also refuses to comment on this publically, they basically pretend it never happened. I already contacted my lawyer to check out possible juristic means.
I hope this is a warning to everyone, who plays EPT's regularly and hope this will attract enough attention to where PS has to answer!

Wow.

So they think its food poisoning, but who knows, it could be something worse, or something contagious and they want you to go play sitting next to other EPT and Stars customers for 10hrs +.....

This is outrageous, and possibly very dangerous to other tournament participants...

Best of luck, you definitely should put health ahead of poker, and EPT should fully refund you, especially after a floor man told your friend it was ok.

WDB, that sure is a **** spot. I hope everything gets remedied without too much more stress. That's all complete bs from the tournament directer.

by experience they have been nothing but accommodating in situations like this, wish I was there to try to facilitate something... if you discuss with them with a level head I doubt you guys wont be able to resolve this pre-lawyers

Sounds like It could be the norovirus, the contagious winter vomiting bug.
It'd be pretty gross if the whole field caught it.

Horrible situation and terrible how they've dealt with it Hope you get better soon.

I won't be there tomorrow but should be there on Friday if you think the threat of bad publicity will help (I'm a poker journo) but I reckon Bikini Wax's approach will probably (hopefully) work. Good luck!

don't worry, they're gonna spend his 300 euros in rake on amazing promotions for recreational players

Get a letter/diagnosis from the hospital to bring w/ you. They'd have to be heartless bastards to not do the right thing.

Because Pokerstars is a pos greedy company that has no respect for it's customers. How players continue to support them time and time again is beyond me! The sooner we start supporting the smaller festivals and helping them grow, the better!

Policy is policy bros. if they let you do it every Harry, Dick, and Tommy going want to do it too. Sorry for your lose.

He didn't know it was food poisoning until he got to the hospital.
You're in a foreign country and you get violently sick, you wouldn't go to the hospital?

idk in which fantasy world you live, but why should OP or anyone be able to sue Amaya "for millions"? so infecting others is neither smart nor a 'good line' but just plain stupid ... if it's even possible (b/c still it's not sure, what it is).

While i agree that the situation was handled poorly, i somehow doubt, OP has any right for compensation. Sickness is bad luck and if you can't show up, it's not the operators fault. anyway, hope OP will get better soon and things will be sorted out!
