Two Weeks of Poker in Macau

The Asian Poker Tour which will be held August 26-31st at Starworld on the Macau Pennensula. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...icial%26sa%3DX Many top players will make the trip because there are two events on consecutive weeks (The PokerStars APPT starts on September 1st). The biggest draw to the tournaments is not be the pros but the thousands of new players being introduced to Poker with these events which is good for everybody.

Asian Poker Tour information can be found at www.AsianPT.com and here are some of the facts about the tournament.

Main Event
$5000 + $300 buy-in
$1,500,000 USD Guarantee
$500,000 USD Guaranteed to First

Scheduled alongside the main event will be
Cash games from low limits up to $100,000 USD buy-in w/ 4 players already confirmed for the game
Single Table Satellites for the Main Event
Mega Satellites for the Main Event
$300 and $500 buy-in tournaments
13 card (Chinese Poker) Tournament with at least $10,000 added
Sit and Go's ranging from $100 to $1,000 buy-in and will do larger upon request including heads up matches

Tournament is open to players 18 and older

57 Players already qualified through a number of online qualifiers on the IPoker Network. Satellites are currently scheduled for other sites after the WSOP is over. We are currently in discussion with Full Tilt, Everest, Party Poker, and others to send players. The Asian Poker Tour is actively seeking out every online site willing to send players to any of the tour stops and I truly believe that this is the model that will help poker expand throughout Asia.

Matt, how can they do Chinese Poker, its not an approved game for Macau by the DICJ yet, will Galaxy look to do the same as Waldo did for the last APT poker tournament (as Texas Hold em wasn't on the approve dlist at the time) and get DICJ to approve as a one off for the Tournament?

OK, that is news to me and I am sure that we will TRY and get it approved in time as a form of poker. I was the first one to visit the DJIC on behalf of the Grand Waldo for the tournament last year and they seemed pleasant and excited about poker.

I was AMAZED by the attendance of Koreans to the first Asian Poker Tour event in Manila. There were about 80 in all and you are correct about the wide range of ability they had at the game of poker.

The breakdown of numbers for the APT Manila are as below:

As expected we received the most entries locally due to Manila being the host city, we also attracted many entries from alot of other countries which is also as expected - this is a benefit we see to not making the APT restrictive in any way and opening the doors to anybody who wishes to run satellites to this tour.

Philippines 97
Korea 55
Japan 31
USA 28
Australia 15
United Kingdom 15
Sweden 14
Thailand 10
Canada 6
Hong Kong 6
France 5
Denmark 4
Malaysia 4
Russia 4
Holland 3
Ireland 3
singapore 3
Germany 2
New Zealand 2
Norway 2
Austria 1
China 1
Indonesia 1
Italy 1
Romania 1
Slovenia 1
Wales 1

Martin

Wahts your estimate for the Macau event? %'s from each of the major countries?

Will let Martin reply to that one. Am expecting a lot of frustrated HK based players who can't play online to come and play in the first major tournament in Macau this year.

If the 13 Card Poker is approved there will be a very healthy add on there. For Manila it was US$10K courtesy of the sponsor and they have offered quite a bit more this time.

Hello,

Am going to try and qualify for this if I can. Can you please tell me if there are going to be any other side events running either before, during or after the main event? If so could I have the schedule please.

Thanks

The answer to that is definitely there will be side events. Probably $300's and $500's during the evenings. There will also be SnG's and One Table Satellites. I will post the final schedule this week.

Brilliant, also is there more than one day 1? If so what date is the last starting day? I assume we can chose which day we would play?

Thanks
