The "one child per family" system that was briefly in place in China was the only time, to my knowledge, that humans showed we had the potential to be smarter than mold growing on a slice of bread when it comes to over-riding our reproductive instincts.

Sorry for the rant, I just find the concept of congratulating someone on having a baby to be quite silly and something that may have made sense in the past, but not really anymore.

Having said that, I still wish David and his family the best, and that the child is healthy, and that he will be a good father

Lol congratulating someone doesn't have to be giving them praise for something hard they accomplished, this should be pretty obvious. I'd congratulate someone on being healthy after having cancer etc.

Also, as we evolved humans certainly learned to our population like you are saying we should. Some humans killed or abandoned most babies upon birth because they realised higher population would be detrimental to their tribe/civilisation. Some killed all of them and forcibly adopted teens from other tribes. A lot of this was also before we even realised that sex=babies haha. Don't ask me why we don't do it anymore lol, guessing because we don't have the smart guys forcing us to only have x amount of children.

It's a lot harder to measure the latter. And I'm guessing you've never had a child if you think it's that easy.

The evolution of **** Erectus the species died along with the concept of "survival of the fittest". If you're truly concerned about the human species, you'd be contemplating death rates, not birth rates.
