thats great, but really that information is only relevant to your passport/dl/birth certificate. the fact that your birth certificate states that youre female is a perfect example, since you admit youre a biological male. so i fail to see how "the letter F" on your birth certificate is meaningful at all, other that you just wanted it to say that. How can you possibly say that the penis between your legs fails to define you as male, but the "F" on your birth certificate succeeds at defining you as female? Dont get me wrong, I believe its up to all of us individually to define our own gender, but it seems like youre doing a little 'boundary policing' yourself when you exhibit state documents as evidence of something.

Only if you want it to be. I take your word for it that other trans-persons dont typically go around talking about the state of their genitals, but really thats just another social convention. Youre basically saying, "well, in my community we dont answer that question" [btw, i find it hard to believe you've written a book without disclosing this exact information]. Its not unreasonable for someone an archetypal gendered background to be curious or ask if you have a penis or not, especially since youre presenting yourself as being open to discussions and questions. If youre going to make the argument that it is unreasonable for someone to ask you this question, you have to make an argument founded in cultural relativism. Such arguments usually boil down to, "well, thats just the way it is."
To state that you shouldnt be asked such questions, because no one else gets asked about their genitals, is the fallacy of equivocation. The reason youre not treated the same is because you are not the same. Before you go calling me a bigot, know that im prolly on the more open, liberal side of the spectrum of this forum and in general... i really enjoyed my queer feminism class and spend a lot of time thinking about how we construct sexuality as a society. But its not discrimination to teach advanced mathematics to only those students who show an aptitude for it. It is discrimination to treat your interests as subordinate to the interests of non-queer people, because the better fit the archetype of normal sexuality.
It seems you want everyone from the majority to ignore a glaringly obvious inconsistency. Youre willing to go under the knife for breast augmentation, and show them to the world, and want the world to know about it. But when you go under the knife to rearrange your genitals, its taboo to ask or want to know.
edit: just saw your reasoning for your state issued id as being significant.
