I'm completely at a loss to explain this hand:

http://cakepoker.com/en/HandHistory/...wYjCwMTMwsc%3d

I look down and it's my turn to act. Both myself and zenmaster have posted big blinds. I can't figure out how we've gotten to this position. I raise my AK and watch as the rest of the table folds around to zenmaster who also folds. I check the HH and it still makes no sense.

I decided to check the hand before that and it helps to explain where the confusion arose:

http://cakepoker.com/en/HandHistory/...zIjCwMTMwsc%3d

It looks like 4 people decided to get up that hand and 3 more sat down for the next hand, where the problem occurred.

Previous Hand:
1. Stinkoman
2. razrstar - > drlake
3. GetTaKnowYa
4. vanbon
5. dutch81 -> pokerply
6. SB nowhammys -> Krankz
7. BB DeathCrunch
8. JELitch -> empty
9. zenmaster

Problem Hand:
1. BB Stinkoman
2. drlake
3. GetTaKnowYa
4. vanbon
5. pokerply
6. Krankz
7. DeathCrunck
8.
9. BB zenmaster

I really don't know what's supposed to happen in this scenario, but it sure as hell doesn't involve two people posting big blinds and acting first. Clearly Cake has some issues with their posting out of position algorithims.

I bet they introduced more bugs when they "fixed" that problem the other day where they shipped the wrong guy the pot.

I'm not clicking on a cakepoker URL at work, but it sounds like you're saying you sat down at a table and posted UTG. How is that shocking? Personally I just wait for the big blind, but you can post to get dealt in from any position.

I was wrong. It wasn't the first hand that I played. It was the beginning of the session so I was just sitting down at a bunch of tables.

Actually, I was referring to the hand in which Cake shipped the wrong player the pot.

Perhaps said DeLorean driver can go back and convince his parents to:
  1. Run for congress
  2. Pass "Safe Harbor for Online Poker Act of 1990"
  3. The Commerce Dept. can enforce online poker software quality
And as long as he's there, might as well quietly ask Doyle to remove the Trouble Hands section in Super System.

Hi oakt -
Yes, that's a known bug that we have. Under certain circumstances, it posts a BB for you when you're UTG. Please PM me and we'll compensate you - you shouldn't have to pay a BB when you're UTG.

I apologize for the problem - it's been difficult to catch.

Best regards,
Lee Jones

why can't the bug just be fixed instead of compensating each person who posts a thread/pms lee about it? i appreciate that they're compensating each player that reports it to him but most people on cake aren't 2+2 members

Thanks Lee. Here's the actual hand for those interested:

Hand#2136014132001025 - Chelsea 14132 -- $0.50/$1 NL Hold'em -- 2010/02/09 - 09:39:25
Seat 1: Kran***1 ($124.60 in chips)
Seat 2: Deat***2 ($101.20 in chips) DEALER
Seat 4: zenm***4 ($91.20 in chips)
Seat 5: Stinkoman ($100 in chips)
Seat 7: drla***7 ($16.98 in chips)
Seat 8: GetT***8 ($20.92 in chips)
Seat 9: vanb***9 ($20 in chips)
Seat 10: poke***10 ($24.69 in chips)
zenm***4: posts big blind $1
Stinkoman: posts big blind $1
Dealt to Stinkoman [Kh,As]
Stinkoman: raises to $4
drla***7: folds
GetT***8: folds
vanb***9: folds
poke***10: folds
Kran***1: folds
Deat***2: folds
zenm***4: folds
Stinkoman: returns uncalled bet $3
***SHOW DOWN***
Stinkoman: mucks
Stinkoman: wins $2

The dealer should've been Seat 10 but for some reason the software decided that it was Seat 2. I was actually utg + 1 in the hand. Note that there were two people forced to post and no actual blinds posted in the hand.

I'm sure they're trying to fix it. As a former programmer I can tell you that software is extremely complicated. It's not always easy to come up with a solution. Sometimes you have to restructure the entire way that you've done something in order to fix one little problem. While this is obviously difficult for Cake at the moment (since it's a known bug), I'm sure that these problems are being taken into consideration with the new software.

Because code can be extremely complicated. First finding the issue, then ensuring the code fix doesn't impact any of the other processes.

Who knows - maybe it's a business decision. Cost to fix is greater than cost of user frustration/after the fact compensation, etc.
