Yes, the superuser scandal was terrible. Covering it up was terrible. But life goes on, and time heals all wounds. I don't think Cereus is going to mess up big again, especially now that the whole poker community is watching their every move.
You talk about playing live, but I'm not sure you really grasp the situation. Here in Washington, we have a cap of $500 on our total NL betting per hand. So, at any point, we cannot put more than $500 into a pot. The nearest casino that spreads NL is 1 hour away. They play 1-3NL(500cap) and 2-5NL(500cap). It would cost me $30 bucks for a roundtrip. I'd also be wasting 2 hours, plus I would have to tip for every flop/pot I win.
As for getting a job, I must admit I have no formal training. The best job I could get would be minimum wage. Yes, this is my fault, but nevertheless part of my equation. Unemployment here is offically around 10%(and the internet says the true numbers are wayyy higher).
I'm glad you have your honor. However, honor does not pay my bills.
I think you have it wrong on the $500 cap or you just worded it wrong. There is no cap on the pot, it is a cap per bet size. The largest bet you can make is $500 and if you bet $500, your opponent can raise you another $500. They do have the 4bet cap too though so max pot heads up would be $2000 per street. I sometimes make the trip to Everette to play and the games there are extremely soft even at the $5/$10NL table which is just a players betting $500 at a time.
Also as far as tipping goes (coming from a former dealer) it's completely up to your discretion. I never tip on smaller pots. It may be cheap in some players eyes but when you're doing this for a living, it's hard to justify tipping $1 on every $10 pot you win when there are lots of people that over tip. I don't know what stakes you play online, but with how soft the live game is, I would make the trip over trusting my roll with Cereus.
When the State says all online play is to be banned and the site says, "no we'll continue to let them play." How safe do you feel leaving your roll there?
