That whole story could have been told in 15 seconds, no need for the whole 5 1/2 minutes it took...so did he punch or push Jesse or not?

Per pokernews:

Cantu came across really well in the interview and obviously is a misunderstood non angle shooting [ except one time ] non douce bag who should be given a medal for being such a likeable and honest dude.

It seems in the 5 1/2 minutes he had to tell the story he didn't have time to tell that part.

If you notice, the interview was broken into two parts. After completing the first segment, Kessler (who was watching the interview off to the side) was talking to Cantu and said he's never seen Cantu angleshoot in his life. Cantu then asked him to go on camera and say that. For whatever reason, Kessler doesn't do that and then Cantu does the second part of the interview.

Ahahahaha, classic stuff. Cantu's voice sounds more shaky in every new interview he does. Sounds like the kid is on the verge of a serious breakdown.

Lol thread has potential

I was sitting one table over. Here's what I observed.

(I didn't watch the PokerNews interview, so I apologize if I'm repeating information already posted here)

Up until the hand in question, the floor was called over to that table several times for rulings, and each time, a heated argument preceded the floor's arrival.

When this hand came up, they were playing a draw game. When the floor came over to listen, the dealer was attempting to explain what she saw, and couldn't finish because both Brandon (seat 2) and the guy in seat 6 kept yelling variants of "NO! That's not what happened!" or "I'll show you EXACTLY what he did!", etc.

Finally, she manages to tell the story: on the last draw, Brandon verbally pats, his opponent taps the table (indicating a pat), and then Brandon physically checks the river by tapping the table. His opponent then makes a checking motion with his hand, so Brandon opens his cards. At this point, his opponent objects, claiming that he hadn't checked.

At this point, play on their table has been stopped for at least 3 minutes. My table, which was very friendly, marveled at the obnoxious behavior on display.

Another floor arrives, and Brandon turns to talk to him while the first floorman is still talking to the dealer.

Out of nowhere, a guy in seat 6 on another table next to theirs (the Jesse mentioned upthread) stands and starts yelling at Brandon about how Brandon's opponent plays in Bobby's Room every f'ing day, and he's not an angle shooter; he knows how to play draw games.

This infuriates Brandon who then yells at the top of his lungs to Jesse "Shut the f up!"

Jesse: You're accusing him of shooting an angle, but you're the one shooting angles
Brandon: THAT'S WHAT HE JUST F'ING DID! HE SHOT AN ANGLE!!
Jesse: Nobody likes you Brandon!

At this point, Brandon has had enough and rushes towards Jesse. They definitely made contact, and from my POV, about ten feet away, I thought Brandon actually landed a slap / punch. A floor man steps in, and a few minutes later there are about 5 security guards around their table.

Jesse then yells for Brandon to get banned because he hit him, etc.

Brandon spends about 45 minutes away from the table, but eventually is allowed to play again.


Later, after I busted (yay tournaments!), I asked a floor why Brandon was allowed to play after apparently assaulting another player. His response was that they reviewed the surveillance recordings and determined that the two players (Brandon and Jesse) just pushed against each other with their upper arms and shoulders, and no pushing or hitting occurred. The TD then spoke with both of them outside and resolved their differences, or something to that effect.

From where I was sitting, Brandon should be DQ'd, because although he may not have landed a punch, he rushed at Jesse. That should not be acceptable behavior. As a recreational tournament player, I'm not inclined to play at the Rio ever again because of this.

I also think Jesse should receive at least a warning for making matters worse from another table. Yes, Brandon deserves to be called out for his inappropriate behavior, but when he (Jesse) started yelling, he didn't make the staff's job any easier while they were trying to sort out the controversy with the hand.

I heard Brandon and Hellmuth are super close and Hellmuth is staking Brandon, wonder if that's why he never seems to get in trouble? I mean if you are involved in a confrontation a few days prior ( with Lisandro ), then physically assault someone and they still let you continue playing...wtf? I doubt some random player would be able to continue...absurd

who slaps people?

He should have been tasered for charity by Clonie Gowen in The Rio parking lot, with the donations going to 'angle shot victims' around the world.
