I like the idea of facing a big river decision, sitting there stone-faced tanking, and eventually sliding a draw-four uno card out into the middle without cracking a smile. I'd have floor and security on me so fast as I tried to explain that it was just a joke. If anyone wants to try it and put the video on youtube, just make sure you're planning on folding the hand and never returning to that property..

why play 77 if you fold when having quads?

basicly he called 77 to have quads and a non str8flush board, because if he doesn't have quads the other guy can have a higher set on most boards.

237 rainbow might be good enough to get it in for him, but if he comes out of the woods on such a board noone will pay him off.

So for him the biggest mistake was calling pre.

Don't feel like reading the whole thread.. but did we ever find out if it was indeed a good fold and his opponent had exactly q10 suited?

Funny how some people thought folding quads in a million dollar tourney was ok, but a 10k tourney was not.

The cost of the tourney has nothing to do with how those two hands were played.

The guy said, or suggested he had 99.

Don’t think anyone is disciplined enough to not show worse than 77 there, maybe super robot type like Vogelsang or Koon but average rec/pro no way.

I did a similar lay down once, iirc, the board was 9 9 3 2 J on the river, i had pocket nines and folded face up

The table goes like "Dude, why the **** would you fold the nuts?" and i: To show you i can fold the nuts and still win the tourney..

And i did. I know you gonna call this bs, but i did man.

Was it really necessary to dig out this 4 year old thread?

Why would someone bump a 4 year old thread of a guy making an extremely standard play?

what? I imagine most people who understand what valuebetting is would be embarrased to overplay their value hand enough to make the opponent fold better

I thought the wsop is cancelled this year, so I doubt this really happened

Probably remembered the story, couldn't recall who it was, and went to check if the folding player was Postle.

a few years ago I played with the villain in this hand and he said the quads made a good fold.

I know the other player in the hand, and he told multiple mutual friends that he indeed did have it

He most likely plays in some private games with lots of young (internet-savvy) villains. Slightly the same as when you saw "the wolf" or Leon play ******ed on youtube-videos at high-stakes PLO.

It lost him some chips at that one hand, but gains way more than that in future EV at the tables he uses to play.

If he wrote a book, has a youtube-channel, or just instagram with a few K followers, it'd be even more obviously "staged".

Hand is in no way comparable to the WSOP ME one, where some crusher folded quads vs several combos of possible str8flush when being very deep already.

When you have quads, and only one combo beats you, you should be smart enough to not fold it, since there is nearly zero hope of being able to use that as advertising for your future games, imho. Classic global-galatic self-own, given the facts that I know. (didn't google him)

~15-25% chance of live-soul-read, though. Would have attention-whored myself there, too, ofc. Even without social-media accounts in use.

The ONLY time folding quads in NLH is even somewhat rational would be on the following type of boards...

A/K/Q/J-A/K/Q/J-A/K/Q/J-X-X where X is the persons pocket pair card. If its a full house on board where the 3 of a kind is a paint and all it takes is 1 hole card being that paint then that is a somewhat rational fold (but not really)

or if its 4 to a straight flush board along with the paired board to give quads where 2 different cards can give a straight flush.

But a board where a person needs 2 and only 2 possible cards? Never.

The only way for this fold to be even worse, it would be if there was jackpot in the tournament...
