I don't get why people stake others.

Poker is a game of perfect freedom. If you're good, you make money. If you're not, you don't. Sure there are large swings, but that's what bankroll management is all about. So if you're broke, it's because:

1) You're not very good at poker.
2) You're not very good at bankroll management.

In either case, why would anyone want to stake you?

or what if you have some degen habits IE BJ, craps, sports, horses, etc and everytime you get a big score you blow it on that or drugs. backers allow you to compete and still make money and they get to profit.
