Having a day to absorb this and think about it I am pretty excited.

I don't think the monopoly aspect is very bad, because Stars has proven themselves to be pretty above board and fair. (Really, even if it were a true monopoly would that be worse for players than all the scandals that have happened? And I think once the legal status around the world clears up there will be plenty of competition.)

I think that this will pave the way for the FTP brand and maybe Stars to partner with US online rooms so if and when state or federal regulation passes. That is good news.

I think the chances of getting our FTP money just shot up. Stars has also shown themselves to be competent, and I don't think they are looking at this seriously if they don't have a good degree of confidence they can get this done. (And they are likely estimating their chances accurately).

I don't expect to hear anything official for at least two weeks. Of course I expected FTP to pay within a week or two after Stars, and I almost LOL'ed when I saw the post saying maybe we'll get paid by the world series, which was an in fashion type of post a year ago, so I am used to disappointment and long waits.

I speak and read very basic dutch, so a lot of the news sites are difficult for me to get information from, but I found one good english article that has the left wing parties up 9 seats and the right wing parties down 13. I don't know if this is true, or even what the sentiment is towards the current government in the Netherlands (are you Dutch?), but thats what I know.

People saying this will not happen over night and things will take a lot more time are obviously most likely right.

But I'm going to bed this morning with this optimistic thought. Diamond Flush's fact report and her now passive optimism is the greatest truths we've had in this ordeal, and I think its safe to say something is going to happen with this god forsaken company soon.

If PS is really buying it, I have to think one biggest reasons will be positive p.r. and saving the reputation of the industry. If this is true, then they have probably factored in the moral of the player base and the roller coaster we've been on so far and would likely not let the GBT bomb drop, news leak, and then wait too long to inform us wtf is up.

I could see some definitive news coming today or tomorrow. ANd with what PS has proven they can do so far, payments wouldn't have to be that far behind.

many former FTP players allready play on stars. the other side of the medal for stars is, that they eliminate their biggest competitor and have a greater monopoly for themselves.

but other pokerrooms will also grow and expand. maybe some other rooms will come and offer a better rake/rb structure as they have right now. ipoker offers very good rb deals, however the site is filled with better players (what i heard). 888 on the other hand offers low rb but has superfishy games running.

If FTP doesn't take off, then the situation you describe above will happen anyway. As it stands, PS are the biggest room and pretty much have a "monopoly" today. Whether they take over FTP or it disappears, its close to the same situation.

I play on Partypoker. That's why I put monopoly in inverted commas. If PS start charging wild rake, then you'll be playing on Partypoker too. Not really a monopoly.
