Props to griffin, what a beast! Must be in really insane shape!

Do prop bets like this get taxed after the winner gets the money? I've heard of prop bets but I've never heard what exactly happens after the prop bet is over. I assume it depends on how much money is involved in the prop bet.

Ashman you are awesome.

Also, to the haters, you are f ******ed, running 20 miles is really hard even if you have a killer base but take a month or so off. Its as far as i've ever run even when i was training endurance 15 hours a week for months and it wasn't exactly easy. I know if you've trained for a marathon before, 20 miles isn't THAT brutal but Ashton obv wasn't prepared for this, he was out drinking, slept almost nothing, then ran 3 marathons in 24 hours. It sounds like he's never completed a single marathon. And he has to run 70 miles not 20. Saying people who do ultras do them quickly is kind of irrelevant. Most people who do ultras have done like 20 marathons. It's also not like they are ready to get up and do another ultra when they finish. Whereas ashton has to do a marathon, get up, do another one, get up, do another one. That is tough.

Saying like 'oh, but he's probably crazy fit and has a tonne of heart so who cares?'. Err thats the whole reason its awesome. He's crazy fit, has a tonne of heart and prob won one of the biggest prizes in the history of distance running prizes by going for a jog on a treadmill (while hungover and tired as ***).

Not trying to impugn Ashman's accomplishment at all btw (I personally would definitely drop dead or quit long before the first marathon was through, treadmill or not), just curious if anybody has any science on this.
lol at some responses

in some ways running on a treadmill is a lot harder than running outside, you sweat more and your body has a bigger problem handling exertion because you are standing in place, your pores do not lose the sweat as easily, any runner who has done intervals on a treadmill vs track will attest to this...

the treadmill def. helps with the poundage on your legs, it absorbs the beating they take, but the idea this was somehow a lot easier cause it was on a treadmill is lol, if anything he was prob losing more electrolytes etc per hour than he would have running outside... also mentally running on a treadmill is a lot harder

this is extremely sick, pretty much wouldn't believe it if it was someone that hadn't done these type of sick prop bets before

There is a pretty good history of his "friends" taking advantage of him.

to the guy who says a 6'10 350 guy doing this is easier than a 5'7'' 130 guy.. are you leveling us? if not, lol.

If ashton was 6'10 there is zero way he gets this done.

Sounds accurate to me. This is the Record List for Germans who ran 100km (62,13 miles): http://www.vfum.de/fileadmin/Statist...DBL_100_km.pdf. 50 runners managed to run this distance in under 7 hours. The very best time is 6:24:29. World record is 6:13:33 according to Wikipedia.

There´s a close to zero chance anybody will run 70 miles in under 7 hours.

EDIT: LOL, I just found this: http://www.iau-ultramarathon.org/ima...cober_2010.pdf. There´s a guy who ran 1000 miles in less than 6 days on the Road. The same guy did this on a running track as well (LOL, that´s about 4000 laps ....) and it took him three hours less. A record for the ages, I guess.

In before somebody challenges Ashman to do this ...

I was able to watch him wrestle in highschool when I was just starting up with the sport. He was one of the best 103s in the state at the time, and you could just tell he was way more focused than others. I would never bet against a wrestler, as we are
just way more mentally tough than most.

Congrats on the job well done Ashton.

I don't think this would really be all that difficult.... I come from a running background (800m 1:55, 1500m 4:07 when I was 17)... and by my calculations...

I can walk about 1km in 10mins.... so 6km/hr... 6x24 = 144km in 24/hrs...

70mil - 115km roughly?

70 miles on outdoors would be totally brutal, only a tiny proportion of the population could do that. 70 miles on a treadmill is completely different - most people who regularly play sports could do that.

My rough estimate would be that 2 miles on a treadmill is equivelent to 1 mile outdoors. You don't have to propel yourself forward and the terrain is completely regular on a treadmill, that is the difference.
