jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez
Not to be overly nit-picky but I doubt anyone has run it 70 miles in under 7 hours. Probably a bunch have in under 8 though. Theres a HUGE difference between someone who runs like 200 miles a week and ashton.

I was talking to Ashton at the PCA and he said he had never run further than X distance where X was pretty small(maybe somewhere between 13-16 miles I think, and definitely under 20 miles).

Almost anyone on this forum I'd give 100-1 odds they couldn't do this in 24 hours. Some people are just way better at certain things than others. The goal of prop bets isn't to bet on whether someone can accomplish something amazing- its to bet on something that one person thinks will happen, and another thinks won't happen. For some people on this forum I'd bet against them running 10 miles in 24 hours

Seeing as 90%+ of distance running is all in the mind, having 900k on the line is going to help you fight through the pain a tonn. That said, this is still a very impressive feat.

Edit: People have been known to run for 3 straight in ultra long distance races, I can dig up an article if anyone's interested.

this is disgusting on so many levels

how does he do this?

how does he lay 3:1?

how does his friend take that bet for 900k and not puke up his conscience?

In Belgium, you have this annual event called Dodentocht ( = Death March). They have to finish 100 kilometers (+- 62 miles) within 24 hours and there are a lot of people who make it easily by WALKING.

So this is easy

I guess that's why they call it Death March, because it's easy. I also guess that you didn't notice that he wasn't allowed to walk.

Even if he jogged, it was easy. I did it once too, at that time, I wasn't in good shape and I made it in 22 hours (with 30m break) just by jogging

Without specific ultra training he's going to not enjoy walking for about the next month. This is a beastly accomplishment, well done Ashman, and if the part about running to the gym but the miles not counting is true holy sicko batman.

For a reasonably fit person, this is not too hard since you are on a treadmill. Anyone with running experience knows how ridiculously easy it is to run on a treadmill compared to outdoors.

Going out partying and getting little sleep the night before was kind of dumb...

You have no idea what kind of shape wrestlers are in, much less college wrestlers. Guarantee his legs felt fine 2-3 days later and he could probably do the whole bet again.
