Another online poker cheating thread...
 

Hi All,

I was attending a PokerStars sponsored event (ANZPT) back in July and had a chat with one of the guys hosting the PokerStars party and an interesting topic came up. I didn't think of it much back then but recently it has caught my attention as a possible method of cheating at online poker and wanted to hear everyone's thoughts:

The guy basically said that people who have admin access (like himself) on Stars can see the hole cards after a hand is complete. This feature is there so that if you ask an admin/moderator to sort out a dispute or similar situation they can see everyone's cards and decide accordingly, also to prevent/detect collusion etc.

First of all has anyone else heard of a similar functionality or was the dude just BSing?

Secondly if this is true this ability after the hand itself is over is not a big deal in terms of that hand but suppose I'm colluding with one of the admins and give him a cut of profits if he tells me what a particular villians hole cards are after each hand is over. Especially in heads up play, this could serve me well in modeling his behavior and deciding on future action.

it also would work well to bribe that admin for a simple boomswitch. afaik everyone at stars can activate it but most deny they have the capacity.

I believe if you can see the hole cards of others you could in fact cheat

I don't even believe pokerstars exists. sounds like a made up place where the forecast is always disappointment with a chance of busto.

Doesn't make sense. What kind of "dispute" would require admins to look at hole cards from a previous hand on an individual hand basis? How can you even have a dispute in an online hand?

So you didn't think that stars has full hand histories? How do you think they review things when you accuse someone of collusion?

uhh......watch the sunday million on pokerstars tv. Everyones hole cards are exposed so that proves it. I am pretty sure that you can view the hole cards live or when they have been mucked.

making a superuser account is probably super simple to program,

its most likely hard because of regulations within the company

no doubt ps can abuse this, but likely they wont

I once emailed stars and asked them if they could turn my boomswitch on for a few weeks to help me run good.

They replied and said that they only turn the boomswitch on for people who have a high level of marketability and even then, they only switch it on without telling you so that you genuinely think you're a good player.

a bit OT but i wanna know if theres sth. like a perma boomswitch at FT.
i feel it is cause i hit 1 or 2 outers on the river like ordinary guys hit pairs on flop.
am i just lucky or perma boomed?

I called Stars after reading this and asked them to activate my boomstick.

Yep it's true. Me and a few Stars employees can see all whole cards while playing. Don't worry it is only a precautionary thing, much like it was in UB, in order to prevent collusion at the tables. I hope you all have a good day and keep playing at Pokerstars.
