I'm actually kinda friends with Alan now, or fairly close to what might actually be considered a friend for him. He's a different sort, to be sure, and has no patience for smalltalk or sarcasm, but he is quite knowledgeable on College basketball, obv, but he seems more concerned with right side than right price, which can obv cut deeply into your profitability. Math-based picking is mostly anathema to him, and he laments what he considers the passing of the days where a guy could just get by on knowledge without all the numbers. Also, his "shtick" isn't a shtick; he's actually like that, almost all the time. With Alan, what you see is what you get, which can be alternately very annoying, frustrating, or awesome. But what you will never get from him is a facade. He is truly one-of-a-kind, and I, for one, count myself as happy to know him. Results certainly vary on that count.
