It's just a cosmetic improvement designed to make blind sizes 'rounder'. They might as well have made the blinds 10/20-20/40-40/80 with starting stacks of 600. 25-30 big blinds is a classical starting stack for a lottery SnG. Making it any bigger wouldn't help much because the levels are 2-minute. As it is (note also the antes of 0.1 bb), it encourages looser play so that the target audience (fish) doesn't get too bored.
For those who like 'real' (deepstack) poker, there are still MTTs available. But 15-30 bb poker is still complex enough, taking into account that each chip is worth a bigger fraction of the buy-in and thus microscopic differences in EVs become more important than in deepstack tourneys and are scrutinised with advanced calculators.
