I received the below e-mail from WSOP.Com. I think I put money on there to play the Bracelet Event last year or some satellites. I don't live in Las Vegas so I can't play unless I am there. I had no idea WSOP policy was to begin charging $5 bucks a month if your account is "inactive".

Hey {redacted},
We are contacting you regarding your WSOP.com Nevada account.

You have not logged into your account for the past 9 months and as a result, we will begin to implement our dormant account procedure on 29_Jun_2017. Until then, you are free to log into your account to prevent it from becoming dormant.

The twelve-month period triggering dormant status is calculated from the date you last logged into your WSOP.com account.

Once your WSOP.com account enters the dormant account period the account will be closed and we will charge a monthly administration fee of $4.99. The administration fee will be deducted from the dormant account balance once each month and will continue to be deducted until the balance of the account has reached zero.

{Redacted}, should you want to re-activate your WSOP.com account after it has entered the dormant account period, please contact our support department at 1-866-745-2385 or send an email to support@wsop.com.

Once your account has been re-activated, we will stop charging the administration fee but will not be obligated to reimburse any past fees.

To review this and all our policies, please view our Terms & Conditions.

See you at the tables,

The WSOP.com Player Support Team

This is standard practice for almost every site. In fact, I can't think of one that doesn't do this.

Also, wrong forum.

@OP, I've got some spare money. Could you hold them for me? But remember, you can't do anything with them and you need to keep them safe in a separate place. And if anything ever happens to them I will complain and accept no excuses.

This is standard procedure on many betting sites. They warn you of this happening at least a month in advance.

ipoker also do the same thing.

Stars stance is slightly different:

In the event that your User account is “inactive” (i.e. you have not logged into your User account for a consecutive 12 month period), monies deposited by you in your User account will cease to be "End User's Deposits" and will not be held in trust but will be immediately available to you for withdrawal or to use the Service in accordance with the terms of this Agreement from such time as you log into your User account and will be automatically reclassified as "End User's Deposits.

Every site returns the fund if you complain to them about it. So, end outcome is the same whichever site you play on.

as others have pointed out, many sites have similiar policies to tackle dormant accounts;

If you do not log in to your account for a consecutive period of 365 days, your account will be considered a "dormant account". Any positive cashable balance in a dormant account may be removed by us and cease to be held in the Designated Account (as defined below) for player funds. Following your account becoming a "dormant account", you can at any time log on to your account and contact us to request that the amount of the positive balance (subject to the terms of the Withdrawal Policy) is made available for your withdrawal or to use in your account with us and subject to our verifying your identity to our satisfaction, we will promptly consider any such request.
Please note that if you do not log in to your account for a period of 90 days, your Comp Points and/or Bonus Points, if any, shall be forfeited to the Company without further notice and are not refundable.

Do you have to physically be located in LV to cashout though?

Nope. Just cashout, in the time you've taken to start a new thread.

so...basically what they are doing is giving notice to ensure that players from out of State log in while in town for the Series and then you are good until the next year. Big deal...

Would be more cause for concern if they used a shorter window of time, but this seems to acknowledge that many can only play in a short window of time on an annual basis, specifically when in town for WSOP.

Wow, you don't often see a thread with so many replies taking opposite viewpoints on an obviously provable point, that are all incorrect.
