Hey is there a possible way of getting Pokerstars to install on Windows 8? I've searched without any luck , have tried compatability modes but nothing seems to be working.

I've had no problems, didn't have to do anything special. Installs the desktop without issue.

Just thought I would post in case others like me had problems loading Stars on windows8.

simply follow this:

control panel>Systems & Security>Action Centre, scroll down to smartscreen options>click change settings and turn off>download stars

so many things online;downloading from win 7 paste into win8 put exe file on desktop blah blah, the above way worked fine for me.

I've just got my new notebook and it is the first time I am working with windows 8. I could not install it either. No matter what I did it would tell me 'this app cannot run on your pc please contact the software provider'. Then I've got it! My main setting have been on Germany (I am from Switzerland - german part) and Germany is not an accepted country for .com software anymore (they have to use .eu-software). Changed the country and it worked out perfectly fine =)!

I've been getting this same error message "this app cannot run on your pc please contact the software provider."

I tried redownloading it as suggested and that did nothing.

Also this

control panel>Systems & Security>Action Centre, scroll down to smartscreen options>click change settings and turn off>download stars
Doesn't seem to be an option in the action center options.

I downloaded Stars in the US (going back to Costa Rica thursday) so maybe that's the issue? Obviously its something I'd like to get resolved ASAP.

Followed these steps from Stars, which solved things.

Quote:
* Open up the classic control panel, and select the System and Security link.
* Now select the Action Center option.
* Once you are in the Action Center expand the security list, and scroll down looking for the Windows SmartScreen option. Once you have found it click the change settings link.
* You will most likely be prompted by UAC to enter your password, now you can totally turn off the SmartScreen Filter.
