Hi just want to know how many of you have had problems with William Hill. I deposited 300 pounds with them and then decided to withdraw it after hearing that they had a history of scamming people. They won't let me withdraw the money. They asked for proof of address, I.D, scan of credit card and I emailed them all that and they still keep telling me that they need security to look at them.

Who here has been through this? And is there anything we can do?

You cost them prolly 10 sterling so far with the deposit. What type of card did you use for the deposit? What are you trying to cash out to?

This is standard procedure and most people playing at a gambling site have been through a document verification process which usually takes 1-4 days.

So stay patient and get back to us if the security department reports problems with your documents.

I'm not going to post the info where I found out about William Hill scamming people but just google it and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I sent my documents and they told me to send them again so I've now done that....I will give it a few days like you guys have suggested. Hopefully it goes smoothly and then this thread can be deleted.., I'll post in a few days an update. Thanks for your support guys.

If you are going to rely on google searches about companies "scamming people" for consumer research, you might as well close down all your bank accounts and use cash for everything (but don't google "fiat money" as you'll be told cash is a scam as well).

It was a poker review site and I read a lot of people's takes on there about trouble they are having with the company such as not getting their money back. I'm just concerned that is all. I have had hardly any problems getting money back via PS and 888....

Will Hill is one of the largest betting places in England, and you can certainly feel safer with money there than 888 for instance.

You may want to do better research in future, and not be so moved by standard crazy people yelling crazy (the clients of most "review" sites), and also you can expect nearly every site to have an issue with a person who simply deposits then takes the money out a day later with no action, since they pay 3-5% for processing.

A likely solution here is that Will Hill gives you your money back then closes your account permanently, because you are not a customer of any value. They may also say that you have to generate a certain amount of rake (many sites will have that condition in your case).

There is zero chance they will outright "steal" your money unless you attempted to do some fraud like a chargeback or used a stolen credit card.

What the poster above said is correct. If you find a gambling site without negative reviews please let me know. In fact, please don't since it's probably a small and irrelevant site that is quite likely to actually pull a scam you.

William Hill is one of the most trustworthy sites out there, I've used them for ages myself without any problems whatsoever. You're on the right track researching sites though, but be a bit more selective with what you believe.

If there's nothing more to your story you'll 100% get your money.

You deposited £300 to play poker,a new account,24 hours later you want to cash it out.You have not said how much you played. Im guessing little to none? Document scans are the norm now,it is in players interest this is done.

Do not worry about getting paid off William Hill.Play there youll be fine.

If you stay in the best hotel youve ever stayed in then go home and google reviews for that hotel.Theyll be hordes of reviews saying what a ****hole it is.Its the way of the world.

Thanks guys for the responses and informing me of WH's proper reputation. I am a little annoyed with them as I've had to send in my security documents 4 times now. Hopefully it gets resolved soon.

It will get resolved. Providing you haven't breached their terms and conditions your money is safe.
Also, unfortunately those waiting periods are common practice.
I love Ipoker network and I use PaddyPower which is like the Irish version of William Hill. Both are extremely reputable and reliable.
