Correct.

On the Winning Poker Network there are two choices, Elite Benefits VIP and 27% flat rakeback. They are mutually exclusive programs.

Hey guys

As a Nevada Resident (Reno) I live 30 miles from the CA border and a town where I can set up shop at a cafe for online poker. What would you recommend, staying in town and playing WSOP and/or betonline or making the trip to play ignition/ACR? Or both depending on what I can swing for the day?

In order to play on Ignition/ACR you will need to provide proof of address in a state other than Nevada. Assuming you can do that, then the question becomes which option is more profitable.

The answer to that is, *shrug*. Each option has merit. What game(s) are you hoping to play? That could decide a tiebreaker.

Sorry to make you work so hard but where does it say that on ACR or Ignition? I've done a little research and only found that you need to be located in the states listed (non restricted states)

It doesn't say that, however I know acr makes you send in a copy of your ID as part of the verification process. I forget what the process was for ignition its been awhile.

I don't know where it says it, but it's a fact. Sites deal with banks. Banks require that merchants complete Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks on their clients. This means that you need to provide a picture ID and proof of address to the poker site, i.e. Ignition. Failure to do so means you won't be able to withdraw.

If you absolutely need proof, search this forum. Specifically the Bodog/Bovada/Ignition thread. I'm sure it's been mentioned 100+ times there over the years.

I am in California and looking to get back into online poker. Look's like my best bet is with bitcoin. Any suggestions on where I should start?

Do you mean "start playing", or "start earning how to use bitcoin with offshore poker sites?"

Has global poker been discussed in this thread yet? Having been disappointed by LiveAce I'm skeptical but trying to be cautiously optimistic.

Nlop is fun and no risk for people who like tournaments.

I don't think it has. There is however an entire forum for it: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/252/global-poker/

Maybe weird question, but do people play on ACR via wifi? I downloaded the client tonight, tried to create an account, and kept getting an error like the internet wasn't working. I chatted online with a live help person who said wifi is not reliable for the client and recommended I sign up/play while hard-wired.

Hundreds of thousands of people use WIFI on ACR. They told you to plug in your machine because it is more reliable than WIFI to be physically connected and it's an easy fix for level 1 support.

That's what I thought but thought I'd check if it was something quirky with ACR.

I've been trying to get an answer to this question for a while now. If I play on Betcoin, do I get access to all of the Mtt schedule on winning poker network. Or can I only play in the ones sponsored by Betcoin?

Access to the Winning Tournament Network. Which is 99% of the MTTs offered on Winning Poker Network. WTN does NOT include WPN cash games, SNGs, JackPots.

All the WPN skins use bitcoin. You're better off using one of them from a safety standpoint.

Would anyone be willing to help give me some advice with getting started with Bitcoin? I've spent hours doing research, but it's a bit overwhelming. I'd like to deposit a few thousand onto a site (likely going with Ignition Poker, but I'm going to look around), and my main goal would be to minimize transfer fees. It looks like Coinbase is a popular and reputable site, but if I end up making tens of thousands of dollars in transfers, their 1.5% fee is really going to eat into profits.

Visa bitpay card. Also, Coinbase has sub wallet where the exchange can be done for a lower fee. See EndTheFed's posts in Bovada/Ignition payout thread.

You can likely do P2P trades for far less vig. Or even sell bitcoins yourself for cash on localbitcoin for a profit.

My point was more along the lines of that a lot of US players, especially beginners, overlook options like those (Global, NLOP, Pureplay, PlayWPT) because they have a stigma of being "play money sites". For players who like to play tournaments, they're actually a decent source of free money that can be used to seed a roll on the real money sites. They have lots of freerolls, and typically your competition is going to be of a lower calibre than what you'd find on sites like Ignition, PokerStars et al. One $50 bink and you have 25 BI for 2NL. If one is patient enough, one can build a roll without ever risking a penny of one's own money.

In the case of Global Poker in particular, if they can succeed where LiveAce failed and actually generate enough revenue to cover their operating costs (and they have a higher chance of doing so given that they take rake out of all pots and give away far less money for free than LiveAce did), it will eventually be the logical equivalent of a real-money site but against play-money competition.

Lastly, something that in my opinion a lot beginners overlook is this: IF YOU CAN'T BEAT BAD PLAYERS, YOU CAN'T BEAT GOOD PLAYERS. I hear so many people say things like "Move up to where they respect your raises" or "what's the point of learning how to play in games where they call a raise with 95o? I'll never see that even at 2NL". Those thoughts are WRONG. If you can't beat players who are willing to put a lot of money in the pot without the best hand, you can't beat TAGs or NITs or other decent/good players either.

Off my soapbox - just wanted to throw my two cents into the hat in the ring!

Yes: globalpoker.com. Their a brand new (Dec ?) web based poker site so no download needed. Best of all PayPal deposits/withdrawals. They have their own section here on 2+2, check it out.

I recommend playing on globalpoker. They are legal in all 50 states and PayPal withdrawal/deposits.

Someone update the OP...after multiple conversations with live chat I have received confirmation that ACR's ban on Maryland residents has been lifted. What a time to be alive!! Now all we have to do is get Jeff Session's resignation and we can make it permanent.

Who to believe? Live chat or the website which clearly states Maryland is not allowed (this is just one example): https://americascardroom.eu/us-players-welcome

IMHO, it's clear what is being done... there is a "public position" and a "private position." Politicians use that sort of thing all the time. Where publicly, like their website and this thread, they state one thing... when in reality, they may do something completely different.
