do a little bit of research

but fwiw, many posters have said not to play on BetOnline, I'm sure if you look it up you will find the numerous scandals

There are basically three main options now: Merge (Carbon, Black Chip, RPM, etc.), Lock, and America's Card Room (True Poker). ACR has the fastest most reliable withdrawals but terrible interface, Lock/Merge used to be somewhat decent but now have stalled tremendously. Lock/ACR still have p2p transfers, but Merge has cancelled them Nov1st. Merge probably has the best interface, but obviously lots of issues with withdrawing by check (and depositing is also tougher now). Unless you are looking to put in good volume its probably not worth the hassle, but then again if you're just playing recreationally and want your money guaranteed, all the sites above are okay, just don't expect within any reasonable time frame (6-8 weeks). Check internetpoker forum to see all the discussion

Are there any sites that are safe to use for US players right now?
I just want to deposit a little money and play microstakes and whatnot.

I have heard of Carbon, Merge, Lock, and Bovada. And I have heard bad things about all of them haha.

Which ones are safe and reliable?

And which one has the least amount of problems with withdrawing?
I don't want to wait around for months to get my money.

Thank you!

Hold steady for a little bit my friend. Just read an article that will definitely bring at least one legitimate regulated online poker site to WA state soon... and Nevada...off of poker news:

It appeared that Nevada casinos would become the initial entities to offer real-money online gaming in the United States, with South Point Hotel and Casino primed to become the first after receiving a historic online poker license back in August. However, in a recent press release, the GEObet Gambling Network, an online gambling technology and services provider, announced they're set to launch an online poker room in November for Native American tribal casinos.

“GEObet is helping Native American tribes to fulfill the natural extension of their rights as sovereign lands to bring their casino gambling businesses into the new millennium,” said CEO of the GEObet Network Gerry Gionet. “As competition for land based gaming gets fiercer, all land based casino groups, whether they are in California, Nevada or anywhere else in North America, will bring their businesses online. Tribal gaming has the right to protect its interests and compete with state and private casino groups.”

GEObet Gambling Network intends to bring together various Native American tribes so they could share player pools and progressive online slot jackpots. “If tribal nations and tribal casino groups join forces, they will create the largest gaming force in the world,” Gionet added. “We want to open tribal gaming up to a world-wide audience, and reach far beyond the players within a three hour car ride of tribal lands”.

Um, no, I think it's far from definite. As a matter of fact, from what I read, I think that's a pretty unlikely result.

Some interesting opinions in the NVG thread:

Not much meat in the PL thread yet, but it might be worth watching as that's where the good legal minds are:

I saw this site advertised in Bluff and so was wondering if anyone has information, or plays, on Pokercenterfolds.com.

I'm actually most interested in two things about PC. One, are ads going to pop up and disrupt the flow of playing and two, are the women dressed in less than what they have on in the ad. As the fiancee would be playing there too, she might not like the women being naked. It wouldn't bother me if they're naked, but it's not what I would be there for.

With the merge network looking like it's going under (or rather, losing way too much player traffic), I feel like I'm going to have to find a new site. Problem is, I use a mac, and I don't really trust the sites anymore. I only deposited a small amount on BCP to build it up to a real roll, but I don't want to do that again. And if I decide to cash out, I'm going to have to wait forever. And I don't want to put any of my "real money" on any of the other options since I don't really trust them either.

Honestly can't seem US poker ever getting regulated. Realistically the US has way more important issues at hand for congress to debate than online poker. Really sucks for US players.

Anyone want to start a thread or link a post that ranks the different sites available in the US? I'm looking to get back into online poker (MTTs, SNGs, and PLO8 cash) and I'm curious what you all who have been playing post-BF think are the best sites. I played FT/PS pre-BF, liked the FT software and steps, but liked the hyper turbos and larger MTT fields in PS. Thanks!

Yeah now that ftp is back for the rest of the world I really miss it. I used to 12 table. I would only play .25/50 or .50/1 online now, though. What site has the most traffic at that limit, can I multi table and use a HUD?

This may have already been answered, and could be a very lazy question to ask, but has anyone thought of Huds? Which Huds work for which legal sites (obv allowing US players)?

I know PT4 lists some poker sites, but most of the are the popular ones that lost a lot of volume or dont allow us players anymore.

I have had trouble in the past configuring/displaying my hud on a merge site...thats why I ask.

It sucks that it is so hard these days to find everything you want lol. I remember jumping on full tilt getting the benefits of:
A Hud (Both HM and PT3)
Legality
Rake back
Huge Volume
Wire2Wire withdrawls
Decent customer support

Its just hard to find a site with all 6 of those anymore

grunch

Is there some reason the number of FR micro games is down at merge sites? Does anybody know or have theories? There used to be a handful of FR NLHE games at all levels up to at least the 100nl level. Now the games thin out pretty quick past the lowest 4nl level.

I love playing at Carbon. I know I can go to 6max and have more games, but even they seem to be lesser in number past the lowest levels compared to not all that long ago.

Anybody know why? Thanks.

Everyone except for Bovada. If you play on the Winning network (ACR and True are the main skins) only PT works.

Merge stopped allowing P2P transfers which caused a lot of US players to leave the site because it was a method that many players used to get money off quickly or to cashout more than the $2,500 monthly max.

Anyone have a suggestion for a site with semi active SNG's? Most sites I checked don't really seem to be active in that area.

Merge sng traffic is not bad at all. U may not be able to be quite as selective as you would like but traffic at low to midstakes is fair. Regular sngs, turbos, supers, bounties, dons, decent traffic for sure, also the best software for mutlitabling for sure. U just might have to mix and match game type and stakes a little bit

...wants to use OmahaManager.
Looking for a site with a good number of players, good quality players, and of course good security.
My main goal is to learn how to play, not to make money. I will play lots of hands up to PLO 200, maybe 400. Play multitable, and analyze my game a few hours/day.
Also I've heard different things about slow payouts, lack of games, or lack of payouts, want to avoid these.
