Where can US players play? - First post updated Jan '23

First off are your current legal options. Several poker sites have blocked players from certain states from playing in their rooms. Listed after each state are the sites that they are allowed to play on. For example, I'm from New York so my options are Chico, WPN, and maybe Merge, subject to certain zip code restrictions. If your state is not listed, then all networks are available to you.

Restricted states; you can play on:

USD
DC: Ignition + Chico + Grand + Horizon
Delaware: Chico + Grand + Horizon
Kentucky: Ignition + Chico + Grand + WPN
Louisiana: Ignition + Chico + Grand + WPN
Maryland: Chico + Grand
Missouri: Ignition + Chico + Grand + WPN
Nevada: Chico + Grand + Horizon
New Jersey: Chico + Grand
New York: Chico + Grand + Merge + WPN (Merge subject to Zip Code restrictions)
Utah: Ignition + Chico + Grand + Horizon + WPN
Washington: Ignition + Chico + Grand

Bitcoin
All US Residents can play for bitcoins on:
Seals With Clubs
[Also various other Bitcoin Only sites, including some WPN skins]

Next is general information about the different poker networks. Restricted States are the states these networks do not allow players from, or at the least from certain areas. There are links that will bring you to their respective threads/sections here on 2+2. Clicking on their respective cashout threads and scrolling through the last few pages will give you a good idea of how long cashouts are taking.

**Ignition (US-facing skin of PWL Network; formerly Bovada on Bodog Network)
Restricted States: DE, MD, NJ, NV

- Anonymous tables - player names are hidden which renders notes/trackers useless post session

I want to start again post-Black Friday. I don't want to use a credit card. I do want to make sure I get rakeback. What's the simplest way to do this? Thanks.

Do Lock and the other Revolution Gaming sites really have dealt rakeback? Seems like that would be a big deal for tight players.
Revolution Gaming
Skins
Lock - Support Cashout
Cake - Support Cashouts
Intertops - Support Cashouts
- Lock uses a separate, faster cashier which offers WU
- Affiliates such as rakebrain, raketherake & thenuts have been known to help speed up cake cashouts
- Intertops uses a separate, faster cashier which charges $50 per check
- Choice between 36% (dealt) rakeback vs. (dealt) VIP system
- Software: **

I signed up here just to say thanks for this thread. Ever since black Friday I stopped playing online figuring I'll come back when PokerStars does. However, I am tired of waiting so have done some searching online. Seems like there isn't a really reputable site for us US players right now which is a shame, I guess some trial and error will hopefully land me somewhere I feel comfortable playing, but right now I don't think I will ever have any great deal of money tied up with any of these outfits as it seems there are horror stories about all of them.

To OP or others from NY, where is your favorite place to play and why?

Also, I notice some like BetOnline aren't mentioned here, any reason as to why not?

Just do a search for betonline, and you'll find out.

Why not just post whatever you were going to PM so everyone can benefit?

Yea I know their reputation from a quick search, maybe they were a bad example, they were just the first to pop into my head of the others that aren't mentioned.

But with that said, I haven't yet come across any provider that people haven't complained about with nightmare stories.

I don't think any site of significance is missing besides them and PPN, is there?

i suggested PPN but i wouldn't go as far as to call them a site of significance. The software is bare bones and there are a bunch of annoying glitches. Perhaps the author of this thread has no personal experience with PPN -few do. Other than a dozen or so of us regulars, there is hardly any traffic at all. If this is your one and only place to play you will die of boredom.

No one has complained about the glitches more than me. Nevertheless, this site does have the best promotions and the quickest withdrawals - this is why i continue to play there and is the reason why it deserves to be included in the list.

This thread is not about the best places to play or the most "significant" places to play, it is about all the places, good or bad, for USA players to play and therefore should include PPN.

Hey guys in my quest to find someone halfway reputable to play I downloaded Intertops last night. But after playing a little play money got a message my account was closed due to the state I live in which is NY. Is the guide wrong or am I missing something?

Since the network switched from cake to revolution gaming, the no X state players clause in their T&C is gone, and the revolution gaming network only blocks Utah players afaik. Naturally I assumed they have stopped blocking those states but let me know if otherwise and I'll fix it.

Hey guys, I'm from New York and am having problems depositing. I have an account on Cake, but they aren't accepting my debit card.

Can anybody from NY tell me what site they use and how/what type of card they use to deposit? Much thanks in advance.

Cope Paste from the emails they sent me:

"Unfortunately we cannot accept your account registration from the state you are registering from.
Your account has been closed according to our terms and conditions rule 25."

I'd say it's safe to say they aren't taking NY players at this point. Hopefully it changes because so far that site gave me a better feeling than others.

I am from NY and just started searching for a place to play a couple days ago. Haven't found anything I feel comfortable depositing on. BetOnline and Lock software seems to be ok but there are countless nightmares about both outfits if you look around.

Let me know what you find.

I like Cake, but my bank won't let me deposit on any poker sites. I also don't feel like buying a gift card that might not work. Definitely don't go to BetOnline, but I don't know much about Lock. I really want to play on 5dimes since they also have a sportsbook, I'm pretty sure they accept NY players, and they are pretty reputable, but my bank won't let me deposit. If anyone knows of a prepaid/gift cards that works on any (NY) sites please let me know!

Playing at Lockpoker I use WU or Moneygram online for depositing and all is going through really fast.

What are the fees for that? I cant find any when I go through deposit on Lock.

Also, have you withdrawn from there yet? If so, how is the process?

I'm in the same boat as you. Western Union or Moneygram might be the best/only options at this point.

I also tried joining Intertops (on Jun 13), and received the following message:

"Thanks for choosing Intertops,

Please note that your account has been closed due to restrictions that hinders us from allowing new accounts from the state of New York.

Intertops wishes you the best of luck."

I'm not sure if anything has changed since.

Unfortunately, looks like Intertops singled out NY for some strange reason, the other previously banned states are still working Ala Lock style.
