My table was super aggro all day, almost all very good players. Pretty sure I was the oldest at my table at 32 yrs old. I know everyone says that live mtts are supposed to be fairly soft fields but I always seem to get seated with tough aggro players no matter what event I'm in.

Sorry bout the PCA.

Seriously, invest some of that bankroll. Take like $200k and put in the market LONG TERM. If you don't want to pay a financial advisor just throw the whole $200k into something like the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF or Vanguard 500 Index Fund. But don't buy and sell. Plan to keep it 10 years or longer and watch it grow. I'm NOT an expert but a fairly conservative 7% annual return over 10 years would leave you with a total of $393,430. That's about double. OK, I'm sure you've heard this before and maybe it doesn't matter to some people. But you have the resources and probably the risk tolerance to do it and do it wisely.

EDIT: Stars would probably rather have you leave it there

I mean once he makes it 6200 he's basically priced into to call getting like 2:1, also he was a very very good player, absolutely running over people. I was very impressed with his play.

I probably will do something like this in the near future, I'm just so lazy with stuff like that though.

Ya, I was just making fun of Helmuth's tirades about that hand on TV...

I suppose so but I'm not really sure what a millionaire is supposed to feel like.

I mean I don't go out and buy tons of stuff just to show off or anything. I still grind online which is probably somewhat insane to do but I mean I'm making pretty good $ at it so I don't see a reason to quit. Realistically it's hard to ever feel like you have "enough" money as a poker player because you really don't know with today's climate what will happen in the near future and whether it will be economically viable or even legal.

It's nice to have $ though because it definitely does take a lot of little worries out of your life. Just little things like, will I be able to pay the bills, can we go out to the nice restaurant and actually order the lobster, it's definitely neat for things like that to not have to really worry about whether I can afford it.

Not that you should invest in the stock market, but as you are a poker player I think it's fairly easy for you to become a good investor (not trader). If I was in your shoes I would look at dividend investing and long term investments.

Buy Stocks with a good dividend history
Reinvest Dividend
$$$ Profit

Why do you keep large portion of your bankroll online?

Like I said before I'm just lazy with stuff like that, no real reason.

It's applicable a little bit I suppose but it's way more important to understand why NOT to use it than to blindly follow it, imo anyway.

Who said it was a "large" portion?

Do you have a dollar amount in mind that if you got to, you could be "retired". I mean hypothetically speaking, say you won the lottery or WSOPME for $10M+. Would you still grind SNGs? If so, why? If not, what does the net worth need to be to stop?

If you did have enough to stop grinding and just play recreationally instead, what would you do with all your free time? Are you the kind of guy that would start another biz or work on another $ project, or would you live the good life and pursue your hobbies/friends/wife/etc, or would you donate some time to a charitable organization, or something else?

I think if everyone were half as stand up and hard a worker as you, the world would be a better place!

I don't know that I have a specific amount that I'd need to "retire". I mean most reasonable people probably wouldn't grind as much as I do if they had the same bankroll as me, but I guess it's just the way I'm wired. I feel lazy if I'm not doing something productive with my life. I'm sure if I binked the WSOP main event or something I'd probably play a lot less than I do currently though.

Starting some kind of business is definitely something that could interest me, the biggest problem right now is that I really enjoy poker and that takes up quite a bit of my time already. I'm not really looking to give myself a ton of extra obligations in life. But if poker dried up for me that's probably the first thing I'd look into doing.

Obviously I'd also do a ton of traveling or whatever, but really we already do that. I'm not sure how much more we could do. I think we were out of town for probably around 1/3 of the year last year if you including being at the WSOP as "being out of town".

Thanks for the compliment, and good luck in the games.

I am sure George you are a competitive person and enjoy that aspect of poker, and pays pretty well doesn't hurt the cause.

I don't know that 'competitive' is really the right word but in a sense I guess it is. I'm not really competitive with other people that much but I'm very competitive with myself if that makes sense. I'm always striving to improve at pretty much anything I do, and obviously there's huge incentives to continually strive to improve in poker, so really it suits my mindset very well.

Although I think we're quite different people (I did listen to part of your interview with daleroxxu and it was good stuff but just too long for my attention span), I'm sure you can relate quite a bit to my mindset. Best of luck in whatever you strive to do in the poker world and in life.

Are you still in the Bahamas now that you're out of the PCA? I don't know how the packages work through Stars, if they let you stay in the room once you're out of the main event or if your package includes a room for the duration. If still there, are you playing live cash games or grinding online when you're not playing events?

Ya I'll be here until the 12th...it's so cold here right now though, hard to do much outside. I wasn't really planning on playing any other tourneys but I might if it doesn't warm up.

Cold eh... come play a tourney in Canada. Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and too bad about the tourney. Have you had any success in the past in live events. From this thread you seem to indicate that you haven't done so well.

Is it supposed to be cold there this time of year? For some reason I was looking forward to making the trip next year and thinking it would be swimming weather. I just assumed Stars wouldn't throw their Caribbean party during cold weather season.

Ya my live results pretty much suck so far. I mean you can just look me up on the hendonmob page, my name isn't that much of a secret. I've probably played something like 100-150 live events lifetime and basically only have a few mincashes to show for it. It's kind of frustrating mostly because I get all these people that happened to bink one or two tourneys at some point but who basically are broke and are still being backed and aren't nearly as good at poker as I am telling me how easy live tourneys are and what I'm doing wrong. So if for no other reason, I'd like to win something just to shut these people up. The thing they don't realize is that I probably play more hands in one day online than I have played in my lifetime in live tourneys, and obviously I have losing days online. Live players just don't understand how small their sample sizes are or how lucky they really are when they win a big tourney.

This is my 3rd year going and it definitely wasn't this cold the last 2 years. I'd say it's probably 15 degrees colder right now and also it's really windy. I hope it gets warmer soon or I might find myself burning some more money in some of these live side events.
