I mean realistically you go into these kind of events knowing it's a strong possibility. My sample size was only like 30 tournaments and it's really easy to run bad over such a small sample. I was really sick of it by the end honestly and only played a couple of events the last week before the main event. I don't think I will play as many events again this year but who knows, I might change my mind once it gets closer.

Being properly bankrolled helps for sure, although I would never play these donkaments if I couldn't afford it. Even though they are obviously way +EV the variance in multiple thousand player fields is enormous.

IMO the time has passed to make any serious money from sports betting. I'm sure there's still opportunities out there but it will never be like it was 5 years ago. Also the current climate in the US makes the sportsbooks too unstable to really trust with any significant amount of money, and anyway it is very hard to move money around now that we can't use Neteller.

To explain how it can be +EV would take more than a quick post. I mean it took me years to learn what I learned. Basically look at it like poker where if you get your money in in good spots often enough you should come out ahead in the long run. But if you think variance sucks in poker, it's probably 10x worse in sports betting.

You can get into it from the US but there are way less sites to use than there used to be.

As for sng's I play whatever the biggest turbos are running on stars, anywhere from 100s to 2ks, and I also play a lot of the steps tournaments.

What did you do to learn how to play SNG's? What do you do nowadays to improve your game?

The best way to deal with breakeven (or losing) stretches is to just tell yourself that you're playing in a way that will make money in the long run (hopefully you're being honest with yourself when you say this). Really I'm not that much better than a breakeven player anyway unless you count the stuff from the vip program. My goal at the beginning of the year (and in 2007) was just to break even and make the money from the vip program.

As for the $470k I think it's slightly less than that but I could be wrong, I've never really calculated it. Obviously it feels good considering it's the majority of my income. There is exactly zero chance I'd be playing sngs if it wasn't for the vip program though.

It's pretty hard for me to give advice about when is the right time to move up in stakes because I started at the highest stakes right away. Obviously it depends on how good you are. But there are probably 1000 people who are better qualified to answer this question than myself.

I don't know how I make myself put in the hours. I guess I just enjoy what I do, as sick as that sounds. But really I don't play THAT many hours. The last 2 weeks was pretty sick though trying to get to 3 mil vpp, I probably put in something like 50-60 hours those weeks. But a normal week I'm probably only putting in about 30-35 hours on average.

Who are the best sng players that you play against regularly? Do you play stars exclusively or do you add in some other sites? I usually only play cash games but have played sngs and tourneys a lot in the past and want to get back into it, do you use a tracking software for them? Pt doesnt seem like a great software for these games. Do you use a hud? This is a cool well since I dont think Ive read one by a sng player.

I prefer whichever one I'm running good in. I really don't have a 'preference' I guess. The steps are more profitable in terms of roi but they also take about twice as long to play.

The steps were more profitable by a large margin until the last couple months where Scotty decided to doomswitch me in the PCA step 6s and I had a streak of 1 win in 54 of them or something like that.

I've never met quasifiction. I do know a few Arizona players but the the ones I know are people I knew from playing in the casino back in the day.

Best players I don't really like to answer because I'll be leaving out some people purely by accident and also there are so many good players. I'll just name a few that i think of really quickly: Stevie444, DDBeast, Busto_soon, azntracker, QuasiFiction. Ok that's enough, like I said I could name 20 more if I wanted to. There are a lot of players who are basically at the same skill level.

They usually have live sit n go satelites running at the W.S.O.P. They play like turbo's. You would do well in those.

I had something like 80k on Pinnacle when they closed to the US, so I withdrew it to Neteller planning to redisperse it from there and put some in the bank. Well as luck would have it, the next day Neteller shut down too so I had 80k stuck in Neteller with no idea of when or if I'd ever see it again. It took about 6 months to get it but at least I got it back eventually. Also I had a lot of money in a book that decided to stop paying people, and that was the final straw for me. It's just too hard to justify having any reasonable amount of money in a sportsbook with the current legal climate in the US.

I have no idea of my hourly rate because I didn't really keep track of how many hours I played. If you include the vip program benefits it was probably something like $300 an hour. How much I made from poker I'd rather not answer but you can probably figure it out fairly easily if you're ambitious enough.

I kind of want to get to SNE by June if I can because otherwise I'd get reverted back to Supernova. It wouldn't be the end of the world if I don't though. There's pretty much no chance I'll make it in March like last year though, unless they have a surprise double vpp week really soon.

I have no goal as far as # of vpps to get this year but I'll guess 2 million. I don't see myself going for 3 again.
