Whats your story?

How long are your sessions? How many tables are you playing at the same time in average? Don't you think playing cash games would be more profitable than SNG's (in the long run, of course)?

Well I was hoping for more specific questions. But here it goes.

I worked as a computer programmer for a couple years during and after college but I was making more from playing poker than I was at my job so I quit to play poker full time. This was in 2001. I mostly played stud games but I also played some holdem (limit, this was before nlhe was "invented" in cash games) omaha, and triple draw. I did this for a few years but I quit playing sometime in 2004 because I was making more money from betting sports. I did that for a few years but it got a lot harder to do in 2007 than it was in 2004, for various reasons. In mid 2007 my friend told me about the elite program on stars and I was like, "I can do that", so relearned sng's which I had played sparingly on Party back in the day. Obviously they're a lot tougher now than they used to be but with the vip program and the ability to play more than 4 tables at a time there's still money to be made.

Ive always wondered about sports betting, Im not a gambler but am interested in how sports betting can be +ev. Is there a way to get into it from the US? What kind of sngs do you play?

How do you cope with a 1000 game break even strech?

How does it feel to get about $470,000 just for getting to 3million?

I play the 10-20 dollar sitngos, how many buyins do you usually have before you would move up? I would love to get to the 50-100 level how to you make yourself put in the hours?

My sessions are usually somewhere around 6-8 hours but I was playing as much as 10 hours the last couple weeks. I don't recommend 10 hour sessions fwiw. I seem to tire out somewhere around the 7-8 hour range and play worse than normal. I can't even count how many sessions I started off a winner the first 6 hours then sloped back down at the end, although this could just be selective remembering too.

I usually play about 20 tables at a time, although this varies anywhere from about 14-26 during a normal session, depending on which games are going and how I'm feeling.

Yeah, cash games probably would be more profitable if I wasn't so lazy to learn them. This may sound weird but I don't even think I'm all that good at poker and it would be a lot of work for me to make as much money playing cash game as I currently make playing sng's. While the roi is pretty small in sng's (not counting rakeback obv), they are pretty easy to play without really thinking much and I would imagine playing even half the number of cash games to be really tiring after a while. I could be wrong though as I've never even played a single hand of cash nl.

George who are you are you famous or something and if so how did you become famous

When I was signing up for a local BBS back in college my roommate made up the name "jorj" for me since my name is George. The 95 part is just my high school graduation year. If I could change my name to something better I would because I think it's kind of lame and also it gets misspelled a lot (jorg, jorje, jorgi, etc).

Are you really 13 years old?

I mean realistically you go into these kind of events knowing it's a strong possibility. My sample size was only like 30 tournaments and it's really easy to run bad over such a small sample. I was really sick of it by the end honestly and only played a couple of events the last week before the main event. I don't think I will play as many events again this year but who knows, I might change my mind once it gets closer.

Being properly bankrolled helps for sure, although I would never play these donkaments if I couldn't afford it. Even though they are obviously way +EV the variance in multiple thousand player fields is enormous.

Do u prefer steps or regular 9 man sngs ?

How big a factor did losing pinny and maybe to a greater extent NT play in your changing jobs? I was working on a can't miss system before the changes made me lose interest.

IMO the time has passed to make any serious money from sports betting. I'm sure there's still opportunities out there but it will never be like it was 5 years ago. Also the current climate in the US makes the sportsbooks too unstable to really trust with any significant amount of money, and anyway it is very hard to move money around now that we can't use Neteller.

To explain how it can be +EV would take more than a quick post. I mean it took me years to learn what I learned. Basically look at it like poker where if you get your money in in good spots often enough you should come out ahead in the long run. But if you think variance sucks in poker, it's probably 10x worse in sports betting.

You can get into it from the US but there are way less sites to use than there used to be.

As for sng's I play whatever the biggest turbos are running on stars, anywhere from 100s to 2ks, and I also play a lot of the steps tournaments.

What did you do to learn how to play SNG's? What do you do nowadays to improve your game?

The best way to deal with breakeven (or losing) stretches is to just tell yourself that you're playing in a way that will make money in the long run (hopefully you're being honest with yourself when you say this). Really I'm not that much better than a breakeven player anyway unless you count the stuff from the vip program. My goal at the beginning of the year (and in 2007) was just to break even and make the money from the vip program.

As for the $470k I think it's slightly less than that but I could be wrong, I've never really calculated it. Obviously it feels good considering it's the majority of my income. There is exactly zero chance I'd be playing sngs if it wasn't for the vip program though.

It's pretty hard for me to give advice about when is the right time to move up in stakes because I started at the highest stakes right away. Obviously it depends on how good you are. But there are probably 1000 people who are better qualified to answer this question than myself.

I don't know how I make myself put in the hours. I guess I just enjoy what I do, as sick as that sounds. But really I don't play THAT many hours. The last 2 weeks was pretty sick though trying to get to 3 mil vpp, I probably put in something like 50-60 hours those weeks. But a normal week I'm probably only putting in about 30-35 hours on average.

Who are the best sng players that you play against regularly? Do you play stars exclusively or do you add in some other sites? I usually only play cash games but have played sngs and tourneys a lot in the past and want to get back into it, do you use a tracking software for them? Pt doesnt seem like a great software for these games. Do you use a hud? This is a cool well since I dont think Ive read one by a sng player.

I prefer whichever one I'm running good in. I really don't have a 'preference' I guess. The steps are more profitable in terms of roi but they also take about twice as long to play.

The steps were more profitable by a large margin until the last couple months where Scotty decided to doomswitch me in the PCA step 6s and I had a streak of 1 win in 54 of them or something like that.

I've never met quasifiction. I do know a few Arizona players but the the ones I know are people I knew from playing in the casino back in the day.

Best players I don't really like to answer because I'll be leaving out some people purely by accident and also there are so many good players. I'll just name a few that i think of really quickly: Stevie444, DDBeast, Busto_soon, azntracker, QuasiFiction. Ok that's enough, like I said I could name 20 more if I wanted to. There are a lot of players who are basically at the same skill level.
