i'm also stunned to fine out there aren't any casinos with anonymous tables.i thought they all made people wear paper bags on their heads when they played.
There's a big difference between playing "differently" and not being the same game. I'm basically saying that eliminating note taking and creating that level of anonymity makes it not poker imo. And winning players especially should be careful to go to a site where your skill set can not be leveraged other places. I've been honing my online and live game for years and I can easily play at a casino, PokerStars, FullTilt, Carbon, and win anywhere that we're playing poker. I'm not saying players can't win at Bovada or that they aren't some skills to help them, but I personally wouldn't want to invest my time and energy into something that's not applicable anywhere else.
Even though I may not know people at a table in a live setting, I still can take notes on them either in my head or on my cellphone. When they get up and are replaced with a new player, I know the new player is different than the old player in seat 6. The player who left may sit at the same table with me tomorrow and the notes I have from yesterday are still valid.
At the very least, I should have the ability to take notes on a player, give them my own name, and then when they come back, my notes should come back with them. If not, we ain't playing poker. We're playing a long handed variant of Rush.
Anonymity in poker should be limited to a point for two obvious reasons:
1) You need reads in poker to be poker
2) You need to have the ability to detect cheating and collusion. I don't know if any of the major cheating scandals would have been uncovered had they used Bovada's model.
I don't play 24 tables. I play 5 to 6. I'd be content playing 4 if I could take notes on the players I'm playing against and get reads and have table dynamics. I'm of the opinion you can't get that at all on Bovada using their current model. I don't think you can get it in Rush poker either.
Like I said, if you like it, I'm not trying to convince you to leave. I'm just stating why I'm reluctant to jump in the pool. My opinion is no less valid. No need to get your feelings hurt.
