Ultimate Poker Discussion Thread

http://www.ultimatepoker.com/

Ultimate Poker launched today in Nevada, and is the first 100% legal online poker room in the US.

Let's discuss all things Ultimate Poker, such as the rake, player pool, software, ect.

One cool feature, imo, is that one can deposit before going to NV and then basically instantly play when they arrive. Also one can cash out at any of the Station owned casinos and get cash right one the spot.

Legal poker in the US... GOGOGOGOGO

Quite frankly you are going to have to explain this type of cryptic error message instead of just throwing it out there and expecting people to know what it means.

Notice the name at the top, this is all while Ultimate Poker is claiming:

Indeed, but there's no relation between us and... those guys.

We're branded with Ultimate because of our association with the UFC. But we're [already] used to that followup question. I suspect we'll hear it a lot. :)

The those guys is Ultimate Bet obviously, but clearly there is a connection between Ultimate Poker and Ultimate Bet, and the connection is Iovation, one of the culprits of the scandals.

EDIT:

We send them a "packet" of information (actually through another vendor called Verifi) that contains a player's SSN/Name/Address/DOB and they tell us yes, no, or maybe so. If we get a Maybe So - we'll need to see a scan of your ID. No means you're using a deceased ID or they found that you're actually only 13 years old.

This was posted later in the NVG thread, but still in time for me to edit my post.

Will I be able to observe without creating an account and logging in? Right now I just see a completely blank lobby but I assume that is because they havent started dealing hands yet?

Still can't believe they used "Ultimate". I live in NV, but having lost 8k on UB it doesn't make me feel fuzzy inside giving them my money.

Question: I live in NV. Would it be advisable to wait until I find out about possible RB affiliates before I make an account?

They used Ultimate because of UFC, who cares, it's a new era

I was thinking the same thing but I vaguely remember that the affiliates also need to be licensed in Nevada and that there was a 10k fee for an affiliate license. Given the small player pool, I doubt anyone will offer any kind of deal that is truly worthwhile.

But they're using Esfandiari's greasy mug on their front page and being associated with UFC all I think about is affliction wearing, meat head douchebags. Doesn't exactly get the sleazy feeling I have left from poker out of my head ;)

Don't get upset just because I can play there and you can't

No state taxes, online poker, legalized prostitution and anything goes regulations on guns.

You have to have a cell phone from an approved cell phone provider and Verizon Wireless is not yet approved, so it seems.

Any screenshots of the tables?

I saw in the NVG thread that the rake is 4.5% for NL.

OK so the software gets your location from the cell tower to see if your in Nevada. What about your IP address? What if a buddy takes my cell on vacation with him to Vegas? Just saying.

Someone should rent a 10x10 office and sublease space for people to "store" their cellphones. Just saying.

There is no way that they will simply base your location off of your cell phone. I am sure you have to provide them with a permanent address that your staying at of some sort. Seeing if your cell phone is in Nevada one time makes no sense.

Yeah finally legal online poker again! Ultimatepoker is only going to get bigger and better. They'll get a ton of UFC and Facebook people playing, as well as local Nevada brick and mortar players because UP will be advertising like madmen in those other mediums. Plus, you know other states will be compacting with Nevada and there's the possibility of getting international compacts too. Not to mention I'm sure there will be Californian poker players that will cross the border for the day or weekend just to play online legally. Instant cashouts at their casinos...me likey! I'll see you guys at Ultimatepoker boiiiii!

Well I am sure they are going to see if your cell phone is in Nevada EVERY time.

How about if the 10 x 10 office is carpeted by a huge charging mat?

(It's a joke, ok?)
