Several media have responded to Facebook posts requesting coverage of Black Friday. Let's upvote and affirmatively reply by commenting to these posts (I recommend not posting to these sites' main walls...some here have been banned from some walls):
* Thanks LastLife for putting this list together
Recurring actions:

Let's continue to own a lot of Facebook pages (senators, Congressmen, Congressional committees, etc.). Rep. Barton has cited our Facebook posts, so we know it works.

  • The House Financial Services Committee's Facebook page is here.
  • Let's get some posts on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce page (here)
  • The Dept. of Justice's page is here.
  • Senators' FB pages: Senator Facebook Listing. For this, let's try to keep it to a couple of posts visible on the wall at all times -- that post preferably made by a constituent who identifies himself/herself as one -- with the rest of us liking and commenting on that post. This will allow us to make our case without generating negative reactions from the owners of the pages.
  • We need lots of "liking" of pro-poker comments.
Let's also all send the PPA pre-written letters to our lawmakers. These will be updated when Rep. Barton's poker bill is introduced to the House (in other words, soon), so let's all get the current letters out before that. Once done, please reply ITT with "done", "sent", etc. to encourage others. Thanks!

Finally, let's recruit others. Our personal recommendations of this effort will go far. The daily action plan takes very little time and there's no denying it's way +EV for the time invested. Once done, please post here that you made the request, along with posting your personal commitment to participate in the action plan. I created a short URL for this thread that should help with sharing: http://******/takeaction

That's probably because Facebook does everything in its power to make things as confusing as possible.

Apparently, you can't "Like" a page if you go directly to a wall post or note post on that page. You have to go to the main page, hit "Like" and then return to the wall post or note.

Go here to "Like" Boozman: https://www.facebook.com/JohnBoozman?sk=wall

Then go here to see the poker post: https://www.facebook.com/notes/john-...61394110594649

Facebook makes things really friggin hard sometimes.

Thank you for your reply. I've got it figured out now and your advice was very helpful. Nice to know some people actually take the time to help an ignorant newbie like myself.

Just started a discussion thread on the Washinton Post Facebook website.

http://www.facebook.com/washingtonpost

Go to the link and click on the "Like" button and then click on Discussion on the left side of the page.

The name of the thread is "Black Friday", A dark day for online poker. Please go there and post your thoughts.

With the introduction of the Barton online poker bill, let's all make sure we are respectfully telling Congress that we demand our rights! As the bill drop is on a Friday, let's hit this on Facebook and follow up with emails next week.

Let's focus on members of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce (The ones with an x in front of their names means they don't have open posting. Just respond to a post already on the page.) As we have a new event with the introduction of this poker bill, let's go ahead and own these pages for the weekend.

For manageability, I subdivided them into daily groups:

Friday
Saturday
Sunday
* Thanks Sajeffe for putting this list together

as a poker player, and someone who believes in the liberties of the individual, i hope you will give serious consideration to backing the Barton online poker bill, which would regulate/tax internet poker. also, i would hope you can see the injustice of the WA state law making online poker playing a class C felony. thanks for your attention.
posted to WA state jay inslee fb.

edit: seriously impressed by the number of poker-related posts on inslee's page! way to go guys.

I"ve been trying to join the PPA but keep getting message:

Error. paypal.

I have a CC act. Why do I need paypal? I don't have an ac**** there and would prefer not to have one.

Any way around this?

Sorry to hear of the difficulty. You can join the PPA at http://theppa.org/join. You can donate at http://theppa.org/donate, neither of which require going through PayPal (though it is an available option).

Somebody posted this on a discussion thread at The Economist FB site started by Andrew Nerney:

First they came for online poker,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a poker player.

Then they came for Monopoly,
and I didn't speak out because I hated board games.

Then they came for the Grand Theft Auto V ,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a hood.

Then they came for Uno
and there was no one left to speak out for me.
on Thursday .

I really like this post.

And its a good thread and wish people would make more posts at this thread so the general public could view intelligent comments from the poker community without a lot of pokerese catchwords.
A lot of people are wondering "who are all these poker people all of a sudden speaking out?".

There was a guy in one of the rep's facebook page claiming we were all part of some lobbyist group and they were using fake names. Part of his proof was the posts were made all throughout the day.

I can't post or like anything on Donna M. Christensen. I have her "liked" too. Can you get banned from one person's wall?

The funniest part of that was that the guy typed up his accusation that we were all pasting text written by some lobbying group all over Facebook. He then copied and pasted his accusation into numerous comment threads. LOL.

I called him out. He deleted his post to get our posts (mine and other poker players') off the congressman's wall.
