ROW players are still keeping bankroll in depreciating fiat money when they play on Stars. And that'll probably be a bigger deal in the next few years than the last few.

You also get cheaper rake on Seals. Will probably always be the case long-term that Bitcoin sites offer better value. It's cheaper to work with bitcoins than with fiat, and you don't need to pay lawyers to pay attention to the laws in various countries and stuff like that.

Sure, Stars is the nuts if you have access to it, but still advantages to Seals/Bitcoin imo.

You generally have stakes anywhere from 1/2 BTC (which is the equivalent of .01/.02 USD, up to 600/1200 BTC NL, which is essentially $6/12 USD, and occasionally some 3/6 BTC or 5/10 BTC PLO. Generally very light traffic and there are only one or two real regs at those stakes (Bitcoinman, specifically). They run 3 or 4 handed at most.

Again, the advantages are the much lower rake, the anonymity of playing, and the quick cashouts.

Disadvantages are software, traffic, and it being the "wild west" so to speak...where people can play anonymously, and where they admit that there could be software breaches at some point.

If the games are this anonymous can you just create a new account whenever you like?

yes.

but you'll go back to 0 krill (frequent player points) on a new account. therefore 0% rakeback on all tables with 4+ people (2 and 3 handed u automatically get 50% rakeback).

NickB summed it up well.

Also Seals is on pokerscout so you can see the action without visiting the site, but it is really simple to sign up (username and password only required) and there is no download. In the lobby, sort the ring games by players to see the action.

So a 10/20 has a buy in of 2000 points right? which means the buy in is 2 bitcoins, which would be about $24? so a 10/20 game on this site would be about the same stakes as .10/.20?

This is my understanding.

Do higher stakes ever run? Something like 1/2 or even .5/1?
10-29-2012 , 05:10 PM
ya but not all the time. last night at different points there were the equivalent of .25/.5NL, .5/1NL, 1/2NL, 3/6NL, and 6/12NL

~.5/1 is running now, it gets a full table often, higher than that is spotty and shorthanded.

This thread is specifically about the poker site Seals With Clubs which uses bitcoins.

You cannot use bitcoins on Lock. As far as I know there are no other sites where you can use them, but someone can correct me if Im wrong.

Someone had mentioned there being a Heads-Up only bitcoin poker site. But aside from that, no.

I understand your skepticism, but if you are an American player, any new site, and or new payment method, should be greeted with open arms imho.

BitCoins are not anonymous or untraceble. While your wallet is anonymous the flow of money can be easily traced and probably long enough to figure out "who you are" well enough to identify you. There is however a service where the funds are throw about a few thousand times that is said to get around this. You can be sure that whatever you are trying to hide from is monitoring BitCoins and to what extent they have control over the flow of money is really not known. If they get their eyes on you I'm sure they will be able to trace any funds you are sifting trough the system. If you are a US citizen I would not try to hid winnings from any BitCoin poker sites since this probably will get you into more trouble then you may think. Pay your taxes unless you know how to get away from doing so.

If you are afraid of swings in BitCoins simply transfer them to a normal currency and you should be confident that your money won't fluctuate more then the said currency does.

This is roughly correct. When people say that bitcoin is 'anonymous' they (should) mean that it doesn't -require- you do identify yourself. There are myriad ways that you could do inadvertently reveal yourself that a competent investigator could discover. So don't think "Oh, I'm using bitcoin, I'm an invisible person now."

Is anyone else having trouble getting the Seals site to respond on login? Trying to see if its just me. Thanks.

No other problems are being reported. What exactly is happening when you try to log in? Do you mean at the point where you enter your username and password or when you enter the software?

It is super easy to withdraw your bitcoins from Seals. It usually takes 1-8 hours.

Then you can spend them or sell them for dollars in various places. MtGox is the old standard way. Coinbase is a new way that looks like it could be very good, fast to your bank and 1% fee. Fastcash4bitcoins has a decently long track record of good service and a lot of methods, but costs a bit more.

Thanks for the heads up on Coinbase Alberto. This definitely seems like a viable alternative. Also as far as the login issues, I'll put in my username and password and click "login", and my hourglass (circle) just kind of sits there and it is constantly trying to process. Not sure what the problem is. I've tried different browsers and the same thing happens. I can eventually get in by just exing out and returning like 15 minutes later, but its strange.

The interface is kind of annoying, but still hope this gets more popular. There are hourly freerolls, so you can check it out and maybe win 50 chips (1/20th of a bitcoin? lol)
