If I was in charge of Skillbet in any way, I'd get this obvious error taken care of imo.
Wow this is amazing lol

Re: skillbet.com?

I have played a bit of duplicate bridge and like the way skill is a much greater factor than in regular bridge. I'd love it if this took off for poker as well...

since I don't have time to grind hundreds of thousands of hands I find that variance is a huge factor for me - a factor I would dearly love to see reduced

does anybody know what the rake structure is and if they are accepting non-us players (seems strange to be typing that rather than the other way round )

hah -- that game me a good launch.

Today, we only accept US and Canada, but we expect to accept most all international traffic soon. Funny! (Note: I work for SkillBet)

Good to hear that I'll get a chance to play soon.

What's the rake structure?

I found this on the fee part of the site.

Fees. Fees for SkillBet Challenge (Winner Take All) games are calculated different from SkillBet Live games.
The schedule to the right lists the fees for SkillBet Challenge games (all of which are paid by the winner) for each stake level. For example, in a 25 $Token Buy-In SkillBet Challenge (Winner Take All) game the losing player pays no fees. The winning player, in this example, would receive $47.10 at the conclusion of the game.
Fees for SkillBet Live are 5% of the pot capped at $3.00 and is paid by the winner. In SkillBet Live games, the fee is only charged to the winner of a hand based upon the $Tokens transferred from one player to the other. For example, if both Players win the same amount with pocket aces, then no money is transferred between Players and no fee is charged. Fees are also not charged for any amounts won above the buy-in amount during the initial 30 hands (i.e., because players cannot win more or lose less than the buy-in amount during the initial 30 hands). For example, if the buy-in were 9 $Tokens and during the contest a player is leading by the full 9 $Tokens and wins another hand, then no fee is charged for that (since no one can win more than the buy-in amount during the contest).
Redemption Fee: Redemptions from your Skill Game Account may incur a processing fee. If an Account balance is lower than the Redemption processing fee, the Redemption request will not be completed.

Oh this chart is probably easier to comprehend.

SkillBet Challenge
(Winner Take All)
Fees
BUYIN Fee
$1.00 $0.19
$1.50 $0.28
$2.00 $0.37
$5.00 $0.74
$10.00 $0.84
$25.00 $1.57
$50.00 $2.45
$100.00 $4.00
$200.00 $7.60
$400.00 $10.00

Re: skillbet.com?

Thanks for this. Compared to regular cash game poker the rake structure (Skillbet live) seems very favourable because you only pay rake on the amount transferred between players.

In regular poker you get 100bb in with AA vs KK and get raked 10bb (5% of the 200bb pot) or the $3-$4 cap... later you run KK into AA and you get stacked. Overall you lose 10bb or $3-4 in rake.

With Skillbet's structure you don't get raked on these "cooler" type hands if both players get it in...

nice

Re: skillbet.com?

I agree, in terms of rake per hand spread out of 30 hands or what not the cost is low overall as well.

Just wondering has any US players tried out Skillbet and what are your thoughts when it comes to getting your money cashed out and such?

Re: skillbet.com?

I deposited a small amount then withdrew it a few days later to test it. Nothing unusual so far so with the payment processing.

Trying too hard to make it sound like you don't own a gambling site

How did you withdraw? Getting a check is crazy expensive compared to what people are playing with on there, but then again the site probably isn't making much money either. $5 seems just seems crazy considering I only put $20 on there through my paypal and it only charged a fee of $3 for that when it doesn't cost the site hardly anything. Never heard of this Dwolla thing either and so far that's the only two options.

Re: skillbet.com?

Dwolla is pretty legit, they also a charge a flat fee (looks like skillbet charges .75), so for a $20 withdrawal that comes out to (3.75%). That doesn't sound that bad for a nominal withdrawal.
